Point of view of a police officer.

firstly Ardsley tyke, i feel for ya pal, i was on the shift in doncaster that got allocated the job and the bobbie you spoke to was one of my mates. he wa just as pissed off as you cos it makes us look idiots.

in relation to doddy's South Yorkshire Police = w**kers comment, out of order, yes it is unforgivable for getting the address and even the town wrong i accept that. your comment is sweeping and generalising all of syp staff.

do you even know how incidents are graded and dealt withi supose not,i'm not even going to bother explaining this in detail, but they go to a call centre operated by civilian staff who have to input the incident locationand decied the grading etc.

in relation to the comments about gettin moneyfrom fines. wrong wrong wrong goes into centrsl government not syp.

overall i accept that what happended is unacceptable however not all syp staff are w**kers, but the bobbie on the front line gets all the flack. its not an easy job, i know i chose it before anybody says but i think the generalised remarks are offensive and out of order. can see what you mean but regarding grading how much more serious does it get than suspected armed intruder in house with residents upstairs.

    reply to you both.

1s poitn couldn't agree more i believe with the details i have seen on here it should have been given a higher priority, one reason i can offer for the time scale is that it was placed on an incident list in doncaster and not barnsley.

due to this it falls under doncaster list whihc on a saturday nght is busiest district in county. its still not acceptable i know.

2nd point. the waste of man power as you call it on home match days, wuld have no effect on incidents such as this. officers are not taken from shifts that are working those days. most of the officers who work do so on cancelled weekly leave, basically we get our rest days cancelled and have to work.

thereare y own views and not those of my employer

RE: Point of view of a police officer.

    Oh i apologise

Don't want the police knocking on my door cos i have hurt their feelings!!

We are entitled to our opinions and since my "altercation" with the police before the match when i feared for my safety twice due to 2 officers of our own local police force i have lost all faith in them. This was nothing to do with the police being given the wrong address, but 2 arrogant, pig headed policemen going above their station - like most matchdays

I have an email from Superintendant Hartley stating that he agrees that i was unfairly treated and he has said that he has put things in place to stop things like this happening. Lets say i am keeping a close eye on things on a match day, and will be speaking to him again if things have not been done as he has insisted

This and the burglary incident doesn't fill me with confidence, and i dare say that others will probably feel the same

Ok then, i retract that comment about all being w***ers. Just the ones that i have the pleasure in dealing with

Pardon the pun, but the jury is still out for me on SY Police. I used to respect what they did but things quickly knock that to the floor

no worries fellaand if i came across as havin a go i wasn't.

just get annoyed when we all get grouped under 1 name, when we are all different. just to let you know yes we all have to display numbers on matchday, if we have the riot helmets on theyhaved to be on the fromt and back other than that just on the shoulder.

    No probs mate.

But i can tell you that him that pinned me up against the riot van DID NOT display his numbers and DID NOT have any riot helmet on. I will be watching and if there is any that isn't, i will point it out to him, but probably be threatened with arrest. I know the one who did it and i am keeping my eye out

    RE: reply to you both.

In general terms there is a whole lot wrong at present with the way in which this country is policed and it is mostly down to Government targets and interference, political correctness getting in the way of doing the job etc etc. (cue debate).

I have never had a problem with any individual police officer in my admittedly very few times I have ever needed them - thankfully. However, my general confidence in the police has been eroded over the last few years. Frustratingly, I suspect many officers feel the same as Joe Public.

However, the comment above by Red&WhiteTyke says a lot about society in general these days. Basically, what he is saying in a nutshell is that, on a weekend evening, it doesn't matter what **** is heading down your way because, no matter what kind of priority it is, all the cops are busy dealing with the aftermath of the drinking to extreme culture that blights this country.

No doubt if you were having a heart attack on a saturday night you'd find the same lack of response from the ambulance service and your local A & E as well.

Personally, I wouldn't go anywhere near a town centre on an evening these days - and I'm no old giffer - I'm only 39.
