Ronan Keating might say 'You say it best when you say nothing at all'.

Re: Seems like a decent keeper to me

Whereas I think Steele has the odd massive error in his game, I get the feeling that Alnwick could be on the verge of a shambolic 90 mins - he doesn't look to me to have Steele's confidence, but then again he hasn't had Steele's fairly constant run in the side.

    In conclusion - I haven't a clue.

    If I were the manager

We'd be ******* rubbish and relegated by Christmas, so I'll leave it to Keith.

It's incredible to think that we are leaving Steele out of the team after his performances last season, but I think that says more about Alnwick than Steele. Alnwick wasn't very good at all in pre-season and he had a shaky start in the first team, but his performances have steadily got better and it wouldn't be fair to drop him at the moment, even though Steele is probably the better keeper. Why do we go for years with rubbish keepers and then start the habit of having two decent keepers at the same time - Muller/Steele, Steele/Alnwick!

But by facts based on Steele last season and Alnwich this season our current number 1 is letting in half a goal a game LESS.

But I'm very sceptical about using statistics like that. The only way you could do an exact comparison is to have them play in exactly the same games under exactly the same circumstances, but until somebody builds a time machine that ain't going to happen. Who's to say that Alnwick wouldn't have let in more than Steele if he'd have played in the same games last season and, vice versa, who's to say that Steele wouldn't have kept more out this season. It's impossible to say.

What you can say though, having watched the matches, is that Steele was very good last season, no matter how many went in, and Alnwick is playing well enough this season to retain his place.

Agree, and I think his distribution is way better than Steele's.
