A good player in my opinion who will only get better. The role he fills lets Houihaine and Scowen get forward.

One thing pearson does which no-one else in our squad does is look for the ball all the time. He doesn't need to be in yards of space to make himself available and is always an outlet. This means in games like Swindon when the opposition come to press and harry, it pulls their midfield out of shape and creates more room for your Hourihanes, Williams and Crowleys to be creative or have time on the ball to pick the killer pass or take a shot. Pearson very rarely gives the ball away which does inevitably lead to the backwards and sideways comments, however, you have to look at the bigger picture. He's a bit like a Michael Carrick or a Joe Allen type, but not yet quite as talented.

Where he does fall down IMO is when teams like Bradford and Shrewsbury come to Oakwell and put 10 men behind the ball. At the moment he doesn't seem to have the knowhow to take the game by the scruff of the neck and make that important contribution.

In short, the better the team we play the better he should look.

Fair comments in the main, agree with some of that, but I don't think it's rare that he gives up possession. He's very wayward with most of his forward passing, which 'might' be why he tends to keep it short/safe so often. As you say though, he always wants the ball and does get it a lot so of course he'll give it away occasionally.

Young lad learning the ropes, as most of them are. But I'm not sure his performances warrant him nailed-on starter status. I'd like others to be given a chance if players aren't performing, the likes of Digby will never make it if we don't give them a run. The sort of run Pearson is getting. But meh. What do I know?

Pearson is one of those players who only exists in the game today because of the recent obsession with having someone to 'protect the back four', 'hold in midfield', 'sit in while others go forward'. It's not that these types of player can't be bloody good footballers - see Carrick, Pirlo, Jamie Allen - but the good ones can also do a job elsewhere.

Pearson, on the evidence of that game at Spotland, couldn't do a job in any other position for a side higher than the Conference North. Ten-a-penny they are, and they're everywhere; you see more vision in some Sunday League players.

Said it before but I'd have much preferred us to have kept Bailey who I thought was a far better player. Pearson reminds me quite a bit of Colace in that he seems to run after players a lot before doing absolute naff all. His passing is poor aswell. However, I do think his positional play is decent and he solidifies the midfield with his positioning. Overall though, I'll be glad when he goes.

Well I think he's a cracking little player and it's got sweet FA to do with the fact that he's on loan from Man Utd. I've read it said a few times now that people like him cause he's on loan from a big team, what a load of tripe that it.

The problems with pearson not being able to pass forward is as much dpwn to the managers set up as pearsons ability. Imagine being in the middle third of the pitch looking forward and seeing only winnal surrounded by two centre halves and a screening midfielder.

"His positioning is decent" yet he "runs after players a lot". So positioning not that great then or your confused .com?

His passing is poor first half Saturday we were in no danger in the blackpool half he misplaced a easy ball to Watkins. Watkins ended up chasing there man back and making a challenge what cos us a free kick on edge of box. (Didn't look a foul but was given) but all from his poor passing his positioning isn't too bad but instead of making a challenge to win the ball he seems to just chase the man until the ball is passed or till the player is past him. Surely Digby could play this role and do no worse.

Exactly being from Man United has people creaming over him more. His lack of goals and assists can't be hidden behind after such a big number of matches. I'd rather play another attacking player so our midfield all had guys with an eye for goal like Hourihane, Scowen, Harris and Crowley.

So with his positioning being decent he's not allowed to run or close down, and i use that term lightly here, other players? What an odd post.

Thought the 2 statements contradicted each other. The lad makes bad passes and tries to regain possession he also covers for a lot of poor passes from others.

Closing darn players is part and parcel of his game, so is trying to get possession back of course he`s all over the place positioning himself to protect the defence.

Your post of he runs after players a lot sarnded like you were making light of what he does yet countering with his decent positioning to add a little balance so it dint look too lopsided a post.

    Here`s another odd post charmer.
