The youth of today are stuck inside watching Premier League football with all their fancy branding or playing on their XBOX. Times have changed there weren't as many distractions in my youth but today branding helps sell the product.

The fact that football supporters talk like you just have proves that the powers are be are winning. That sentence was never spoken in relation to football until about 10 years ago.

setting clarkie on is what attracted a lot of our generation,up till then we had an empty stadium.Clarkie took the team forwards and the crowds followed suit.

It depends how ambitious you want the club to be?

Think the kids would prefer the old Toby Tyke badge rather than a dinosaur.

Wasn't that because there'd been prudent financial planning for years and we had the opportunity to recruit Clark & could afford to do so?

I imagine if we got Alan Shearer in his ewrly 30s to be player manager then a few more lads would've turned up.

I guess I like being the underdog. I also think it wouldn't be good for us to be honest if we came straight back down again.

Andy I'm not having a go. Think we just think differently. My point on another thread is that its not 'Jurassic' to use a dinosaur terminology. The idea of change is good. I fully support it if it's done the right way. The offerings today are GCSE grade D at best. What is the introduction of a shitty badge gonna do?

I reckon it'll alienate more than it will attract/engage. I'm more to support and educate about how important the clubs history and local meaning is rather than creating something new.

A museum at the club that all kids could visit and see what and why we exist is a far better way IMO .

Like I said ont other thread 'born not manufactured' I want real fans not just those who fall in love with a brand!

We all dream of it mate but that's not why any of us bother watching Barnsley is it? If it was all about being at the top level we'd go and support another team

you'd be surprised how good that year in the premiership felt, and this is coming from someone who started watching the reds at the wrong end of the fourth division.
To be honest tho,I don't think you've owt to worry about
at the moment i'd be happy to be constantly mid table,

    Personally I dont give.

We will still turn up and watch what is in front of us on the pitch.

If what they are doing does anything to increase our appeal and income let them get on with it.

The only thing I don't want messing with is our club name, team colours. Ie hull and Cardiff.

We must have changed our badge umpteen times.

I really dont get the outcry it causes.

Can you give some examples as to what you are against as I'm not seeing what your getting at.

It's just silly us being refered to as a brand instead of what we are which is a football team.

    Barnsley Brand.
We're by far the greatest team.
    The world as ever seen.

I don't see it catching on.

But it might be that 1% that are going to buy advertising space, therefore pumping more money in than an ordinary fan. Thus making the fans life a bit better by having a better player or two on the pitch and helping us to improve.

Which then starts to directly impact fans as the club focuses more and more on the 'corporates'.

In my opinion, like. It's amazing how these clubs with investment, finely tuned marketing policies and sponsors all charge daft money for tickets. Extra money coming in doesn't necessarily help us, the supporters.
