I thought they were both trying to hide: after everyone else in the team had shown for the ball and run their knackers off for the cause.
Wish the pair of 'em would take their cue from Micael Helik, in terms of effort and commitment. I thought he was brilliant yesterday, especially in containing Mitrovic. Wherever Mitrovic went, Helik was on his case, even following and challenging him into the Fulham half.
Quite a few players shitted out of tackles recently from the starting elevens then we chuck a couple more on who do the same. Quinna how many times was he shot yesterday. Goes down far too easy and plays dead.
Hondermark should be playing no wonder he never gets on when he’s sat on the bench. He’s too attacking,Poya only changes to defend it’s not good he always invites teams on to attack us. If we are to escape relegation this has to change also everyone back at corners ? Get two of our small ones on the half way line give our opposition something to think about or aren’t we good enough to defend a corner without all 11 in the box? Grrrrrrr Rant over coyr
Quina has the ability to play for a top club but his constant throwing himself at the deck and general petulance will stop him if he doesn't grow up quickly and cut it out
First few games he made every attempt to go forrard with the ball but seems like Poya has got hold of him now and that aint always his first thought. Shame cos his attitude those first few games from him and Bassi were what I was wanting to see from the team when Schopp went.
What I don't get is that he came from Burnley. Very highly rated by their supporters in a team that you could argue are the most robust and physical team in the PL.
I’ve never seen any PL u23 games, so I don’t know what the level is like or how are physical a competition it is. But I think if Burnley felt that he was ready for first team football at this level, he’d have only been available on a loan, knowing it could increase his value probably 5 or 10 times over if it went well. The fact that they were willing to sell for a fee that we could afford, that was peanuts to them, speaks volumes for me. Same with Kane. There’s potential in there imo, but we have to invest time if we want to realise it.
That's the bit the board don't understand and until they do we are destined to struggle, we can't carry that many players who might be ready in two years because we aren't in a financial position to be able to carry enough players in the squad to cover so many players who aren't ready. Which is why unlike last season the team is substantially weakened when the coach starts the make changes mid game, although his choices don't often help either.
Remember reading at the time on twitter there fans saying he wasnt ready for the championship. He had a loan spell at grimsby played a few games for them in league 2. One day he may be a player but he's been way off all season for me. I can forgive a player for not been good enough if he tries but the effort he put in yesterday was unforgettable.
I think he’ll come good, maybe a touch of the Alex Mowatts? Thinking he’ll just cruise at this level? Took a while for Mowatt to be disabused of that idea. And Mowatt was further on in his career having played plenty of games at this level- I think Benson has only made a few games for Burnley and then Grimsby? Like I say, I think we expect him to be better right now because of his pedigree, but it’s not always that way.
I can forgive Benson not being very good, it’s his apparent lack of effort I can’t tolerate. He’s been given a 4 year contract and should be busting a gut to prove himself at this level. Both his and Palmer’s effort level yesterday was shameful. Felt sorry for the starting 11 that put their heart and soul into it. Those 2 points could cost us very dearly.
I am not one for jumping on players backs, but have to agree with this. Six years since, my favourite two players were Marley Watkins and Josh Scowen. Neither were technically gifted players, as such, but would run through a brick wall for the team, and for 90 full minutes if needed. That effort and desire was enough to cement them two lads into two of my all time favourites. If Palmer and Benson are feeling out of their depth, talent wise, then it could be compensated for in effort. But to offer neither, whilst playing for a team fighting for their lives, is bound to get supporters on their backs, sadly.
Benson had a good game v Derby. Palmer had a great game v Coventry. Both seem a million years ago now. They are both the only positive thing I can say about either of them. Both lazy fookers. If/when we go down, I hope we get rid of both of them, as they just won't be up for the fight in league one. Halme would have been a better option off the bench, and I think Hondermarck has been caught in bed with Poya's bird.
