Well mill lane at ethology at not my local but I drive past probably 5 to get to it. Trust me they are Devine the batter on the fish I could eat on its own.

The reason most switched to Veggie Oil is that, like butter and dairy it got bad press from the healthy heart brigade and pushed for vegetable oilsd and margarine spreads. It allegedly lasts longer before needing changing and so saves retauranteurs money (ignoring the fact that after not so many hours of heating they quickly become less healthy due to chemical changes --producing Trans fatty acids and all that. Recent research seems to indicate that, in moderation , frying in animal fats is not as unhealthy as was first thought. Beef tallow has a higher smoke point so fries crisper as well as adding flavour. Belgium renowned for frites are cooks them in blanc de boeuf which is highly refined beef tallow which I used for my home cooked fish 'n chips.

Went caravanning years ago in the Gower and found 2 chippies on the sea front at Port Einon, The Seafarer and the Captain's Table. One of them had the best fish I'd ever tasted from a chippy and the other had the best chips!
