Darns used to be good but last time I went the chips looked like white slugs. Y Pass is good but not local for me.

I need to try Keelings one of these days.

Or unbattered. Batter can be a bit claggy in the mouth.

Small Fry opposite the Miners Rest. We go there for ours from Carlton. Lovely old couple run it, Brian always good for a natter whilst fish is frying.

Got to disagree Im afraid. Small portions, not that fantastic and served by a woman who is as miserable as sin.

Went in laki’s years ago found them very greasy, hope they’ve improved. Darfield Rd is my chippy of choice.

Don't get chance to sample many these days, but Aqua in Mapp is excellent and beats anything here in Cambridge.

Lad, who has this chippy's, Father in law drinks in my local and keeps urging me to give it a try.
As I am 'cooking for one' tonight, I thought I'd give it a try.
Quite simply the best I have ever had.
Someone mentioned the portions not being so big, but the price is right so just buy two lots if you're starving...or greedy.

I think you will see the ownership has changed as it is now very popular.
Decent sized fish and batter very good
The one at Wombwell lane is ok but you have to wait too long for it to be cooked
Hemingfield is the one I use which is good.
All personal preference. One thing for sure is the smell of fish and chips and bacon and eggs get the juices going
Only one thing better is an Orange or piece of Rock, any resort, eaten down the Pit. Not fair on the lads to eat it on your own as you could be killed for a piece ?..
