Happy Mondays at Manchester in about 95. The atmosphere was buzzing. Was off my head though so in reality probably not as good as i remember it.
Arctic Monkeys at the Leadmill day before Favourite Worst Nightmare was released back in 2007 - no gig will ever top that one for me.
Saw Thin Lizzy at Sheffield City Hall 1982 Renegade tour, album wise they were past their best but live they were brilliant.
For various reasons...... Oasis - Knebworth 1996 (the biggest) The Farm - Sheff City Hall c92-3 (mental) Stone Roses - Heaton Park 2012 (never thought I'd have the pleasure again) Madness -Finsbury Park **** knows when (drugs)
To be honest difficult to chosse between these 4 U2 - Manchester Apollo 1982 The Smiths - Sheffield City Hall 1984 Pink Floyd - Maine Road Manchester 1988 Madness- Finsbury Park 1992 Thinking back to all 4 of them concerts is awsome
2nd gig I went to was Rory Gallagher at Sheffield City Hall, but in 1980. First gig was Iron Maiden at Wakefield Unity Hall same year.
Never saw them, could kick myself for not going to Reading when they were headlining and it was their last gig. Always felt they never quite managed a classic studio album, some great individual tracks...I think the best studio album they did was Thunder & Lightning which was their last
Best Pop Will Eat itself - Reformation @ Birmingham about 4-5 years ago. They were also one of the worst at Sheffield just before splitting up. Honorable mentions: Ministry - Paris 2006 Senser - Glastonbury 1994 Johnny Cash - Glastonbury around the same time Nirvana - Reading 1991 and 1992, but 1991 was possibly the best Les Negresses Vertes - Reading 1989 Bhundu Boys - Reading 1989 Wonderstuff - Pheonix 1994 (last ever gig until they reformed) Other bad ones - Janes Addiction - Doncaster Dome Porno for Pyros - Glastonbury
I was at that one, my mate pulled that lad out who died that night when Van Halen were on stage. Remembered for the wrong reason unfortunately.
I was at that gig Spooky and it was quality. Party atmosphere, brilliant set and Jarvis rocking it like a teenager
Thought the death was the year when Guns n Roses were on - remember the lass who lived next door, her boyfriend had gone and she was worried when she heard there'd been a crush and someone had died. I went to the AC/DC, Van Halen, Ozzy one. Cracking line up but actually just wandered around whilst AC/DC were on...not a fan of Brian Johnson AC/DC - apart from Thunderstruck
The deaths 2 i think was the year that Guns were there. Iron Maiden headlined think there was over 100,000 there great gig that apart from the deaths that is.
Too many top ones to mention, but the ones I wish I could revisit again. The Jam - Sheff Uni -78 The Clash - Top Rank -78 Kiss - Bingley Hall - 80
I think you're right it was Guns and Roses, I'm amazed I can remember even being at those Donnington festivals.
