RE: Bruce Dyer away win at Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Worked in East Durham at time of this game. Went to work Monday expecting Flak - it was the first time Sunderland had been beaten at the Stadium of Light. Instead I was greeted with nothing but praise for Barnsley best team and individual(Bruce Dyer) performance any of these Sunderland fanatics had seen in many a year!

    Calvin Plummer

Looked a world beater in his first game for us against Derby - they looked terrified of him. All went horribly wrong after that!

    RE: Calvin Plummer

I remember him away at Boro, running the full length of the pitch urged on by a couple of busloads of reds fans, drawing the keeper and missing the target. Great run woeful finish culminating in a 0-0 draw.

Wasn't Sunderlands first home defeat there. They lost to Middlesborough the season before.

Sure we were 2-0 up, back to 2-2, then Barnard pen??

But it was my first game after my honeymoon so maybe I was in another dreamland! Great win though. Just remember thinking at half time that they were going to bombard us, and they did, but Bruce was a legend in that game.

Maybe not the best ever but one that sticks in my mind was when we beat Leeds 2-0 and Winston Campbell (remember him) had a rare stormer taking the piss out of Paul Hart, beating him then waiting for him to come back before dragging the ball back and beating him again.
Hart complained in the papers the next day givin it the "you shouldn't take the piss out of a fellow pro" ******.
    Great days.

    That was superb

And in retrospect I reckon Hart deserved all he got. The miserable bleeder.

Yep , we are the only team I have ever seen penalised when a player is sheperding the ball out.

I think Taggart got done once at home , as well as the away game at Leicester.

Always enjoyed getting coined by the morons at Filbert Street.
