Spot on, our midfield looks like they are making it up as they go along. Goodness knows why we have more coaches than Wallace Arnold they should be able to get the midfield playing as a unit.

Our Scouse superstar Luca Connell looked really good when he first arrived, but since then he’s been pretty ineffective and living on past glories. He’s not the first!

Asked my mate on tuesday night if Connell"s not as good as we thought he was. Put him back to his role in front of the back line and bring Benson in for Craig or Phillips ( at present Phillips)
Prefer Lofthouse at LWB and DKD up with Humphrys..Robbo as Captain.

The bloke who struggles to get in Huddersfield’s team and is terrible when he does seems unlikely.

We need a progressive passer certainly but a fit Benson is the guy surely

For me Connell & Phillips are amongst the best midfielders in the Division. It's too early to make that assessment for Craig. A fully fit Benson could well reach the same level as Luca and Adam.

I agree the midfield needs to either/ ors for me too. I think Clarke is making the mistake Johnson did of trying to make too many players happy. It should be Craig or Connell or Hourihane. Phillips or DKD. Benson or Russell etc.

When fit I'd say our best three is Connell, Phillips and Russell.

If I had a choice, and I obviously don't, I'd choose Phillips, Connell & Hourihane. Other midfield options are available.

I’d say that’s pretty harsh considering they won the first few so he rightly had to wait for his chance & then had a hamstring injury. It’s not like all of our new signings have acclimatised straight away.

I’d be very surprised if he’s not a regular later in the season.

And also in my time following Barnsley many of our best players do bugger all when they move to new clubs so I don’t really care if he never plays a minute for Huddersfield. He was still brilliant for us in the past two seasons.

Connell needs reigning in. Since he's been made captain he's played higher up the pitch and it isn't working. He's taking pot shots from 30 yards out when a pass is on, his passing has been both negative and wayward in the last few games too.

Craig needs dropping completely, and we need to put Connell back into the position where he's most effective, CDM. That will allow DKD and Phillips to play in the advanced midfield positions where I think we'll see the most from DKD.

For some reason, we're trying to accommodate Connell further up the pitch, and it's causing a knock on with the rest of the first 11 where they're playing out of position, or a position that just doesn't play to their strengths.

    Next lineup should be (imo);

    GK - Slonina
    RWB - Cotter
    RCB - Pines
    LCB - Roberts
    LB - Gent
    CDM - Connell
    RCM - Phillips
    LCM - DKD
    LW - Humphrys
    ST - Cosgrove
    RW - Jalo

Subs: Killip, MDG, Earl, Nwakali, Benson, O'Keeffe, Marsh

Go 4-3-3 and have a right go at them, not hoofball!

Connell has struggled since he missed at Wembley. Pass completion has been really poor. Very disappointed at how ineffective our midfield has been this season both offensively and defensively. No where near the best midfield in this division.

As many others have said our Midfield is a collections of individuals and its not working. Connel and Craig are both playing the defensive anchor - you only need one, Russell fills the same role , As I think would Hourihane if he played so we have 4 players for one spot

If Benson can keep himself fit he should start instead of one of them. His corner and free kick delivery is much better than Connell's as well.
A Fit Phillips has to start he is easily our most effective player at creating/scoring goals even if he does drift in and out of games
DKD is a disappointment so far, and I dont know where Nwakali fits in.
From our squad we ought to be able to make a challenge for promotion but we have lost the intensity we had under Duff and don't seem to really have a style of play. If the mangers is changing formation 3 times a game and keeps switching starting and subs its not so surprising the players don't know what they should be doing mind.
As for our defensive approach once we get a goal up - it doesnt work and is painful to watch. We regularly have all 11 players back within 12 yards of the goal line so there is no outlet - we clear it and the ball comes straight back. Its made worse by the fact that especially later in games when the ball is cleared the defence doesn't even come out they just stay camped in our 18 yard box and we invariably concede
