What was the saying at the time, "If Bettany plays well, Barnsley play well".

I will add to the Redfearn and Glavin list. Predictable, but true.

He was the best midfielder I have seen for Barnsley, barring God ! I would also add Ali Millar and Ray McHale, Millar for his skill and McHale for his unselfish work rate that allowed God and Banks to look so good.

When you think about it, we've had some quality midfield players over the years.

Has to be Redfearn and Glavin. I was a big fan of Hignett too.

We have had some fantastic midfielders plus some absolute top class defenders, pity we have none at the moment.
What I would give for a Macca/Evans/Winnie/Howard/Arjan/Futcher/Taggart sort of player at the moment. Someone that knows how to prevent the opposition from scoring and helps the others around him improve! You know someone with a decade of football at the club and who runs his blood to water every time he plays! I cannot think of anyone at the club at the moment though?

    In a good place...
    Glavin and Redfearn.

Banks probably had the best shot of any player I've seen wear a Reds shirt.

If you base it on natural ability it has to be Glavin and Hignett.
