    Contrary to popular opinion

I dont have a problem with that, I can see why some people might of course, given the saga with Steele over the summer, but this kind of thing has always gone on in football, much better that a manager brings people in he knows about, I actually rate Pollitt and couldnt give a **** who he goes on holiday with as long as he keeps a clean sheet. It could turn toxic on Flitcroft and Im sure that will have occured to him but again, credit to him for making a bold decision, praying that it works for him and us.

Would agree if it appeared to be a logical decision. But it doesn't, so it just smacks of cronyism. What is it about Barnsley Football Club and their managers?!

While were at it can we also have a go at him bringing Mellon and Scott in who were old mates too. Come lads we have a thread to pull at now and lets not let it go !!!!

I was as puzzled as anyone to see a loanee come in above Steele and Alnwick, but i also heard loads of people at the Blackburn game calling for Steele to be dropped. I actually think in any job having a good network to call upon is a plus. Having said that im more confused by the style we play at the moment which lacks the energy that Flicker (and other managers) praised last season. We are static, we don't move with the ball to get in better positions nor do we pass it with pace and accuracy. We have a static flat 3 in midfield with one pass making it easy to get behind our midfield, we saw that again Soton. We have wing backs that dont press on down the wing often. To me this is the issue not whether the manager had a holiday with a loan player.

Tad embarrassing for flicker. I actually rate Pollitt though, so not too fussed.

Who passed him off as a no1? Must have missed that. He is very capable of being a no1 at this level. Or he was, remains to be seen how age has affected him.

Having thought about it I agree with you in principle however where this causes me concern is that Pollitt is not a better keeper than Luke and is not a long term answer. I thought Luke had a mare on Saturday and I did think that sitting out the Southampton game would be good for him but it should have been Alnwick who was promoted to number one. Dropping Luke, even for just one game, makes sense, the signing doesn't.

I dont have a problem with it..think flicker needs as many mates around him as he can get at the minute ...if we stop shipping goals,no problem..if we dont..well, we'll see...not the best of starts though the other night

Flicker needs a win on setdi....or very least 0-0..

Not really surprised he as always preferred his mates playing than the youngsters or better players
