Dont know if it was reported in the uk but a few days before someone opened fire in a busy shopping mall, i think it was in california or washington state which is west coast ,unfortunatley the events of friday seem to have frozen the other shooting out.

Here in maryland,especially around the area where i live the only guns sold are air guns,and you can get these in most sports shops.

The gun laws do need changing but unfortunatley i dont think that can or will happen in the near future.

 

Am I right in thinking that the constitution has been changed before? Even if it hasn't then yes I think it should be changed just as many other laws are changed otherwise we would still have slaves.

 

The fact that it's actually called the "2nd Amendment" tells you.

It wasn't orginally put in the Constitution, it was added later. Also Prohibition (banning alcohol in the 1920's - you'll know if you watch Boardwalk Empire) was put in as an amendment and later repealed.

So yes, things can be put in and removed - it isn't cast in stone.

if it gets shown in the uk go and watch the film called Lincoln. there you will find details of the constituation and its amendments.

 

Saw it when I was over there last month. Found it very heavy going in parts....gets released over here in Jan, don't see it being widely released though.

 

i found it very interesting although it did start very slowly.

 

the first and second amendment were both proposed and ratified on the same day
proposed september 25 1789

and ratified
december 15 1791.

so actually it wasnt added later at all

 

In the past week, from what i can remember, someone fired over 60 shots in a Mall in Oregon. Luckily he was a useless shot, but he still killed 2 people. I think he was shot by the LEOs. At the weekend in Southern California, a guy was arrested for firing 50 shots into the ground and air in a Mall parking lot. Also over the weekend an 18 year old in Oklahoma was arrested after trying to get other kids join him in a planned massacre. The other kids turned him in. A guy in Southern California was arrested with about 150 pounds of explosives in his house. A normal week over here.

But the Constitution was put into effect March 4th 1789. You are talking about the first 2 amendments.

I was just pointing out that purely because it is called an "amendment" shows it can be changed.
