What about Phillips? I’d rather he was with DKD behind Humphrys. Too many no10s and wingers and no bloody strikers. I just don’t get it…..

I might agree with any amount of that but we need an out n out striker. The 2 we've brought in are not that. We may as well stick with what we have, blood our own youth than scrabble about for dregs at this late stage.

Nice to see that he has already been written off by some of our fans, who would have thought

I've not written him off. I hope he's a great success and he looks like a really good tricky winger.

Problem is we need a striker

I’ve never seen the lad play & I hope he’s a great signing but just like Clement Rodrigues, he’s a player that I’d bet everything on that Darrell Clarke’s never seen anything of until a few clips were shown to him in the past week or so.

    Underwhelming is the word.

Why are they trying to gaslight us into accepting he’s a striker when he’s very plainly a winger? There’s nothing wrong with signing a winger. In fact playing a front three with two wide men is appealing. At least to me in any case. I can’t see us playing 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1 but even then he’d be a possible asset.

But why try to tell us lies about his position?

It would also help if they got his name right in the first place.

Anyway; the lad is welcome and let’s hope he’s good.

It’s yet another signing, like Humphrys, DKD, and Rodrigues, where they have failed to sign a centre forward and instead brought in attacking midfielders or wingers - but it isn’t the lad’s fault and let’s hope he’s does well.

At 5’7” he seems unlikely to be moulded into a striker in the way Henry and Ronaldo were in past years but you can make wingers goalscorers - you never know he might be a third division Mo Salah.

I mean he’s more likely to closer resemble Big Mo Harris - but you never know.

Looks decent to me quick low centre of gravity and always looking to set someone up. Get him on the wing to feed dkd and humphreys

Looks good to me too. Proper old fashioned skilful winger. We might actually see someone dribble with the ball and beat a man. I was starting to think that had been outlawed.

You know im not comparing like for like but forwards come in all shapes and sizes. To quote Michael Duff answering some calls for a big target man."If you want somebody big up front ,sign a basket ball player"

David Speedie and John Hendrie are 5'7 and neither were originally strikers. It didn't stop them scoring a bucket full of goals.

Clint goes for the glory and gets it Marcelle, 5ft 4 with 10 goals in 137 games prior to joining us, that one turned out decent.

Another player who wasn't a striker so that's a good comparison. And didn't score many goals for us either - 8 in 69.

No idea how well he'll do, but hope he proves an impactful addition for the next 16 games.

I certainly won't be writing him off considering I've no real knowledge of him. But nor am I bothered about footage of him from six years ago as a 21-year-old.

Just got to hope Darrell has found a setup for Saturday and beyond that makes us harder to score against whilst scoring enough ourselves to get over 2 points per game until the end of the season.

    Lovely.

Barnsley FC Sporting Director Mladen Sormaz said, “After the window closed, we took a look at the free agents available.

A club challenging for the play offs if not more at the start of January and with all the data analysts and members of the recruitment between them could not identify at least one decent striker that we have been crying out for.

On the final day of the window we bring in a 24 year old French guy with 8 career goals to his name on loan and then on the 13th of February we bring in an out of contract American left winger on a short term deal.

Are we really that desperate a football club?
