I think the writing was on the wall. Especially when Harban joined the coaching team.

Wish Devaney well for the future. Hopefully he gets another job in football soon.

Best of luck with your future Disco.

Sad time it is, but you can leave with extremely fond memories, we will also hold those memories.

Hope you get fixed up in a decent job elsewhere.

Good luck, and thanks for your loyal service

It's been noticeable that Devaney has had little input from the dugout of late.

Not far behind was the 40 yard screamer he hit at Plymouth...

    Change is afoot.

Thank you for your efforts MD - I'm sure you'll not be out of work long.

    Interesting times up Grove Street.

Right or wrong, it has to be said that mutually agreed terminations of contracts in football are rarely all that mutual.

I dare say the club have driven it a lot more than Disco has.

That isn’t to say freshening the setup up isn’t the right thing to do. I think it is. I’m not sure I’d have started with Disco but if CH doesn’t want him on his team then it’s for the best to give him the staff he wants.

I at least hope he was offered a job in the academy setup and declined it.

I’m still astounded Mladen Sormaz is in a role and involved in making such decisions but I suppose I’d better make my peace with it as it is clearly not going to change. Not until Parekh and co wake up and smell the coffee anyway.

Impression I got whilst caretaker on occasion, he was more than happy to be a coach on the sidelines. Not everyone wants to be top dog.

    When Duff arrived.
Devaney was considered for the head coach role himself. He told the Chronicle: “I was a candidate and that’s all I will say. It’s fine. I am where I want to be as a first team coach. I am delighted.”

Goodbye Disco and thanks for everything. You've done a lot for Barnsley football club as a player and coach and will be missed.

Whatever’s gone off I don’t think there’s any kind of issue with Devaney & Hourihane.

I was told months back by someone with no reason to lie that Devaney had very little involvement with the first team outside of match days & that all of Clarke, Hourihane & Stead regularly did presentations & spoke about the upcoming match in front of the players the day before a game & that Devaney wasn’t involved in this.

Good luck disco….a decent man whenever I’ve met him….PS if you’ve a decent career at Oakwell don’t touch Barnsley with a barge pole because it’s a poisoned chalice

Good luck to ‘Disco’, I don’t know him on any kind of personal note but I’ve always felt he seems a really decent bloke. My mate played with him in a charity match & said he was really good with all the lads playing.

And whatever happens he’ll always have a huge involvement in one of our greatest moments when we knocked a very strong Chelsea side out of the FA Cup.

The fact he was a candidate indicates he applied for the role. It'd have been easier for him to say he wasn't interested if he genuinely didn't want it.

Agree and his goal away at Plymouth was as good a strike as I’ve seen

He was a top player for us when he would get the ball on the wing you would get off your seat in expectation. Sadly I think the coaching team needs a mix up.

Classic management move when you want someone out , appointing someone with less experience to the team and deferring to them instead of the experienced incumbent, step forward Tom Harben
