To precis : (for Jay's benefit) In March 2006 Notts Forest promised to its fans that in 2009 they would have been promoted to the Championship and have played particularly badly away at Burnley. They knew that after that they'd be playing Barnsley away and so offered to discount the cost of match tickets to that game by 50%. Barnsley FC, having decided to reduce matchday prices thought that to fit in with Forest's offer they'd have to reduce ticket prices to £10 for away fans, but that would have meant subsidising Forest's promise. And so didn't.

I'd have put this: "The club thought it would be a good idea to reduce the ticket prices for an important game but a vocal minority on a website we dont listen to took umbridge (again) and so we've canned the idea, so the ground can stay half empty again and the match day price is back to o'er £20. You've Super Tyke et al to thank, up yours, those within football."
You can't possibly understand it or you wouldn't say it makes complete sense It doesn't. Under no circumstances would we be compensating Nottingham Forest fans for their level of performance at Burnley. It doesn't matter what we charged, we wouldn't be doing that as Nottingham Forest have said they will pay the difference to Barnsley. So should Forest fans pay half of £20 half of £10 or half of £5 the rest would be paid by Notts Forest the club. Ipso Facto it does not make sense.
According to this there weren't any Forest fans there anyway http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/page/MatchReport/0,,10413~44908,00.html or Burnley fans for that matter.
Aye it will, they've been moaning about the ticket prices all year... but you watch, come match day they'll all be at home posting on here moaning and still not bothering to attend for a fiver. All for the price of one of Uncle Morts dog biscuits.
RE: My version ie paraphrased mine. I'd maybe add a bit where Bond holders get free 'baca and pints for being proper fans. Just for Jay.
couldn't give a flyinf f###, i've got a season ticket and barnsley fans are being let in for a fiver.
I pay £300 for 23 games They're letting fans in for a fiver, a ******* fiver and it's still not enough - I didn't realise Forest had offered to sub their supporters, so that negates some of the earlier argument - however, I'd have thought that Barnsley would've liaised with Forest over this, out of courtesy if nowt else.
The official website is **** though.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, and I know that you will But if the ticket price is 20 quid for Forest fans, of which Forest fans get 10 pounds discount, that would cost NFFC 10 pounds a ticket per fan. If we charge Forest 5 pounds per ticket, then NNFC would only have to pay us 2 pounds 50 a fan. So we would be compensating Nottingham Forest by 7 pounds 50, would we not?
RE: I pay £300 for 23 games £5 to get in and (some) people are still moaning. Is there ANY wonder that the club do their own thing without consultation? I think patience ran out about 2 seasons ago personally.
RE: I pay £300 for 23 games If I were in charge I'd just do stuff to upset the internet correctness society.
We'd not be compensating them anything We'd just be charging them less. If we don't want to charge them any less then fine, just say it, but don't come out with all that ballacks in the statement. I think charging our fans £5 is fantastic. I would prefer us to charge the away fans the same price, particularly as I was able to enjoy the £10 admission at Forest earlier in the season. If Barnsley don't want to do that, that's up to them. I don't agree with it and I think our fans will suffer in the long term as other clubs won't offer our away fans discounts in the future. I also think that it won't do much for BFC's reputation amongst the rest of the clubs in the Championship. But like I said, it's up to Barnsley. My point is that the statement released is just a big bag of ****.
If you were a Forest fan who went to Burnley away How annoyed would you be if the game the club offered to discount for you ended up being 5 quid a ticket? They'd be uproar. There's no way you can win on this issue. Forest announced the discount when it was still full price. We then put a discount into place for our fans. We would be compensating NFFC if they were paying the same as us, you can't deny that.
I'm having trouble following that Charge em a tenner and Forest make up the other tenner. Yep, got that. But the rest is over my head.
RE: If you were a Forest fan who went to Burnley away It's not compensation. It's just charging people less. We've decided not to do that, but in no way can it be described as compensation. If you buy a product at 50% off in Debenhams, you're not being compensated you're just getting it for half price. Notts Forest fans that went to Burnley have been given a 50% voucher. Whether that is 50% off £20 or 50% off £5 they still have to pay and Forest still pay the difference to Barnsley. There's no compensation, we've just decided not to lower the price for away fans. We should just tell it as it is.
Aye So Forest fork out 2.50 rather than the tenner they originally would have paid*. But I have to agree with Jay on this one... Barnsley would just be charging less... not compensating Forest. Ultimately it comes down to Barnsley choosing not to reduce tickets for away supporters. To me, the rest of the explanation is irrelevant. *Except that to charge Forest fans a fiver admission, the nominal price would be a tenner, with Forest paying the other fiver.
£300? You wouldn't believe what my mate got for £80 from the Rhino. Class. As I've said before - level the West Stand & build a massive knocking shop. I've no idea how much it is to get in for the Forest game. I think it's some type of riddle. Personally - I think the answer is 1.76.
Just a different view on things I guess Forest have a shocker and offer to refund fans to the value of ten pounds each. We then slash our ticket prices and the forest board get away without having to pay out on their promise of ten pounds a fan, and that I wouldn't agree with. If Forest fans paid a fiver, then that would mean we'd only reduced ticket prices to ten pounds and not 5 pounds like the rest of the fans in the ground would be paying.
