RE: not bothered mcphail left but chops we knew what he could do Agree about Chops and he wanted to come but and heres the catch we cannot afford his wages. Cardiff gambled and it looks as though it may pay off to the tune of £40million but it could easily have gone the other way.
"McPhail hit the nail right on the head before he left" Who exactly was McPhail to criticise anyone or anything about the club? He didn't even give us one, complete, decent season and he thinks he's got the right to criticise the club setup and, by default, his fellow players. Togwell is a more than adequate replacement and if McPhail was all that to the fans back then how come he wasn't voted player of the season? Chopra was a loss, granted (although, while on the subject of fickleness of fans, I can remember my mate having a go at some retards in the East Stand who were encouraging him to "f*ck off back to India" at one stage in his time with us), but do you honestly think we could've competed with Cardiff for his wages? Best footie in years and I'm more excited prior to match days than I have been for ages... Ritchie is our king!
RE: FAO Windy Ok, for a start I don't want to be told, "There's money for players" when clearly it isn't there in sufficient quantity. It's no good claiming demands are unreasonable and that everyone else is marching out of step. The market is what it is, we don't get to dictate how it should be, if he's unwilling to put up enough money he should just say so.
And I don't want to be told we're not strengthening because Andy Ritchie doesn't want to. I tend not to want to deal with, or buy from, a company that treats its customers like idiots.
The time to make our move in the transfer market may have passed. We're no longer in the ascendancy, we're hovering above the relegation zone and we've already lost 2,000 paying customers. I believe all that was avoidable and that caution has been proved to be folly. We've spoilt the sheep for a hap'orth of tar.
To answer your question, mate, I'm not sure what would bring the floating supporters back on a weekly basis (or indeed stem the flow of those yet to lose interest) but a realisation that speculation and cost-cutting translate directly to gate receipts would be a start. We've witnessed the consequences of cost-cutting, what now?

all the writing on the wall points to this When we were close to relegation from championship PC put up money to fetch in Ashley Ward which failed. I wonder if he would have/did offer to do the same this year (going on his comments). GS has said thanks but no thanks. I'll get behind them all season - its just gutting to see how close we are to at least playoff contenders and the final pieces to an almost complete jigsaw have not been put into place! Now the messages we get are mixed - is it GS or AR that has made it this way?
Agreed This season is about consolidation, it's not about challenging for the playoffs, it's about finishing outside the bottom 3. Like anyone else I don't want a relegation battle but we've done far better so far than I anticipated.
I'm not fickle mate. I never claimed to be an all-weather fan in the first place. I value my time, I want to be entertained and I don't want to be lied to.
The problem is that the majority of the club's outgoings are fixed (rather than proportionate to sales) which, in our case, means that profits depend heavily on the floating supporter.
Look at it like this. A company makes 10,000 - 15,000 sales a year, each sale costs the company £1 and brings in £2. The overheads are £10,000 pa.
11,000 sales -
Income - £22,000
Expenditure - £21,000
Proftit - £1,000
13,000 sales -
Income - £26,000
Expenditure - £23,000
Profit - £3,000
You can see that the make or break is in the variable portion of the sales. An 18% rise in sales delivers a 200% rise in profits. The status quo belongs to the die-hards but any real progress depends heavily on entertaining the floaters.
So you see, I'm more important than you.

I'll be back if things pick up..... ....but I've never claimed to be a great fan. Not sure i'd want to be described as one either.
Windy thinks that Oakwells boring, and signing players might get some more in.
But Hayes and Ricos both banged four in.
Ritchie is the King.
or summat..

Windy your rhetoric doesnt add up, are you saying that buying in more players on higher wages will guarantee the club a return? Remember the Ridsdale/Hart masterplan, bond scheme anyone? And as is with any other service, if you dont like it dont use it.
"We've spoilt the sheep for a hap'orth of tar." !? You need to get out more! Arches Setdi perhaps? SKA night!
i thought we were doing well. No. I'm not saying that.
Yes, and I'm not advocating that either.
Thanks, I thought we'd already established that i won't.

RE: No And you're confident we'll stay that way are you? Bit too close for comfort I'd say.
BTW. Third bottom of the form table as well.
