I did say it "might be", it evidently wasn't, so thanks for clarifying. Extremely poor that even the travelling team weren't made aware of the risk of postponement. Exeter must've known there were frozen areas of the pitch that the referee would need to inspect.
Trust me, we are not impressed. Just a couple of years ago we were hosts in a similar situation (against Derby) and we were in regular dialogue with our counterparts there. So as to help them. We still haven’t had anything from them today, in way of an apology. You know, like a little courteous text or email. I know one thing - extra motivation for everyone when we go back down in a couple of months.
I rang the club on the way down and was told there was a pitch inspection at 3. Assumed the game was on as we didn't hear anything but decided to ring again at 4. They said at 4 the ref had been delayed and was just going on the pitch. The match should have been called off on Monday as several games were. You could see from the Monday photos that the covers were inadequate and the Tuesday morning photos showed the ground around 90% covered in frost. The weather forecast was clear. Exeter are a disgrace. Also didn't they refuse to move the Wednesday game dwhen England played France in the world cup?
Might I suggest, if we don't go up, and we are in the same division next year. I understand that as part of the fixture compilation, clubs can make requests for certain games for consideration in the calendar. Get the club to request Exeter at home on a Tuesday night in January.
Given Exeter's apparent silence on this absolute farce, it's hardly surprising that people might jump to conclusions regarding their keeper situation.
Brilliant idea. Not . Make their fans pay for the ineptitude of their club. Have a word wi thissen. As for fixtures the EFL should take into account distances travelled and try include the possibility of still being in the cup.
They did, but was only a 7 day emergency loan and by the sounds of he’s had about as much game time as Obbi Oulare
I agree what you’re saying, but equally why should we now be asked to make the journey again? I know it will never happen, but there might be some sense in asking for the rescheduled game to be played at Oakwell
yeah I know there's no chance. I'd ask anyway though, on principle. and I'd make it known that I'd asked.
Not a single fixture travelling the length of the country in winter on a Tuesday night should ever be acceptable. Is my point. A response in kind will likely receive backlash from another club. One which might be listened to cos it's not Barnsley FC
Asking for the rescheduled game to be played at Oakwell. And to add that old conspiracy theory. Because it's Barnsley.
