You do realise these 4 star hotels that keeps being banded about is rather misleading, if they are being used for assylum seekers, be assured it isn't the 4 star experience you'd require for sure.

Absolutely horrendous. To the people asking why they don’t see any children, well you won’t see these three as they are now dead attempting to flee for safety. It’s easy to see why the survivors may have a fear of boats and water now too.

I’ve read all this thread again as it was completely depressing me last night and wanted to give it a go again.

It is still somewhat depressing, but I am encouraged by the fact that the ‘minority view’ on here (I’ve had to deduce the views of some people as some people haven’t given opinions, only asked questions…), is very much a tiny minority. It sometimes feels like compassion, responsibility and even reasoned thinking are in the minority. This thread, with its admittedly very small sample size and which also isn’t representative of all society, at least goes some way to disproving that.

The voices are getting ever louder though, it can’t be ignored. History probably won’t have people like Braverman on a par with Mosley and Powell but she has the chance of being much more damaging as she appears to have a lot of the media establishment behind her.

 

And all of us should be grateful that he and others did.

It’s why we must get the Tories out next year, because Braverman would be looking to replace Sunak within the next Parliament. Kicking the Tories into touch might hopefully see the back of this ultra right mob we have at the moment, which might (ever hopeful!) stop the rightward movement of the Labour Party. The far right have had their few years. In the sun and have ****** up the country beyond recognition and given some legitimacy to the horrible, racist section of our society. There was once a time that Lee Anderson’s comments would see him lose his job.

 

There’s tories on Twitter/X saying Anderson isn’t a real Tory and his comments are typical lefty words, it’s always lefties that use such language.

Maybe, just maybe, if the government recruited and properly paid a decent workforce, they could clear the backlog of asylum applications quickly and we wouldn't need to spend billions on barges and hotel rooms. Those that are accepted (well over 90%) would then be able to get jobs and find somewhere to live and help out with our shortage of workers in the economy. Those that aren't accepted can then be properly deported. We would instantly benefit from a healthier economy, receiving more in taxes and would go some way to restoring our reputation in the world. But no, they just want to rile up the racists and bigots because that's the only chance they've got to avoid annihilation at the next General Election.
