If he does go for £1.5million it will be a real disappointment and another case of giving our best assets away for nothing like their value.

Unless we get a offer up towards £5million we should try and keep him until the end of the season. He seems to love playing for his home town club and puts tonnes of effort in. He's also always the last man off the pitch, making sure he applauds every stand. He is the kind of player we need if we're to stay up, and as many say, relegation will cost a lot more than a cheap buck we could let Stonesy go for.

We're under no obligation to sell for once and I can't see John spitting the dummy out if he doesn't get a move so let's be strong and keep him at Oakwell unless there's a silly offer.

I get the feeling he doesn't even want a move right now. Barnsley fan playing for Barnsley and getting paid well at 18. He might get his head turned by a big club or big bucks but he seems to have his head screwed on, he knows the riches are in the future, why rush and possibly stall your development?
