I wouldn't be surprised either. Something like - "We won't be bidding right now but we do want him". Flicker would be duty bound to let Stonesy know. He might want to wait and see rather than moving to the 1st PL team that offer him something. He might not want to leave just now regardless of who is interested.

everything in flicker's interview with paul walker screams out 'don't go'. if he's got his family round him, hopefully they're telling him the same thing. but, ultimately, it might be taken out of his hands. i just hope the don shows some balls and holds his nerve. cos make no mistake, if we go down, stones' value will drop from what we could get right now, and he'll almost certainly leave at the end of the season. he should never play league 1

I think you're right our kid. If he keeps developing he will attract a big four club and could become an established England international. He has the talent to go all the way in football so no disrespect to Wigan but I'd be telling them he's not for sale.

I don't necessarily agree that his value would drop. He is still getting all the attention in a struggling side, getting picked for u19's etc. He could be sold in the summer for the same sum as we would get now as long as his own performances continue at the high level they have been.

That's the key for me. If our board have any faith in John Stones' ability to grow as a player and ergo increase in value as an asset then they'll keep him. If they don't have any faith in his ability to improve then they'll sell now.

It's all about stocks and shares isn't it. If you buy shares in a small company who are rapidly growing and increasing in value do you sell the shares simply because someone offers you good money for them or do you keep the shares while they're increasing in value and sell them later when they're worth even more?

    The lad is quality, already.

But you need to see it from the clubs point of view. Anything above 500k is unheard of.....

But seriously, I know for a fact that John doesn't want a move. So if he goes it's a BFC decision. A monetary decision.

It'll be undisclosed whatever, so these sort of threads are quite futile, tbh like.
