I've never been that impressed. Butterfield showed more in his early appearances than RNL ever has/did.

Monday he was alright - probably his best game, but he wasn't fantastic.

Did he not 'want' it when he skinned Eardley and set up our first away goal for a thousand years?
Why is KK going public with comments like this? Fair enough, if he thinks Reuben needs to 'want' it, tell him privately. But why do we need to know?
Its a load of absolute ****** anyway.
What about the 'No Brainer' up front? The lad that needs a home - a care home. He has played about 10 games for this club and done FOOOK ALL. He certainly doesnt 'want' it.
Wheras Reuben has made 2 starts in 12 months - got MOTM against Pikey's last season, and of course away at Blackpool, where he looked decent, and made a goal. He also looked decent at the Keepafloat in January as a sub, and did he not come off the bench against Millwall to score a beaut from 25 yards last season?
2 starts, about 10 sub appearances, and done WAY more 'wanting' it than Nouble and Dagnall combined.
Andy Gray is the sort of player who doesnt look like he 'wants' it to me at times. Cant be arsed to jump more than once a game.
And what about "he's my right back" Scott Wiseman? That lad needs a rocket up his arse IMO. Gormless. Does he 'want' it?
And what about the likes of Cantona, Waddle and Le Tissier? They didnt have to run around like a headless chicken 'wanting' it. They were just quality players.
If you have talent, and have been ignored for 9 months by the manager in favour of Dagnall, Park and Nouble etc, you are then unlikely to walk into a team of players you dont really know and start begging for the ball...
I have it on good authority anyway that Reuben was asking for the ball but getting ignored. And lets be fair and look at the facts - he made a goal, and he is not even a winger. But like Danny Haynes before him, he only gets a rare game ON the wing. The kid is a support striker, or perhaps an attacking midfielder playing in the hole. But hey, what do I know?
Btw, isnt this the same treatment he gave Vaz Te? Where despite his talent and goals he was berated regularly for other parts of his game. The same Vaz Te that KK said would "return to being a football ghost, a substitute.."
    Spot on Keith.
Just as you owe me a tenner for saying Middelsbro would go up this year..
I still have faith Keith, but give your gob a rest, its coming back to bite thi on thi own arse.
    Toodle pip

He is only 18, bit early for such open criticism IMO. Butterfield wasn't ready properly til his 20s, plenty of time.

So to summarise, you're saying that Keith made the same mistake with Butterfield and Vaz Te? Surely, they're two examples of players who he gave a hard time (publicly) and they ended up being our two best players this season. Vaz Te even called him up to thank him for turning his career around!

Vaz Te played like a pantomime horse when he first arrived, and seemed utterly useless some games and brilliant in others. Butterfield always had ability but never seemed to make the difference. Keith gave them both a public kick up the arse and they both turned into the players we'd hoped for.

    Odd logic Whitey.

This backs up what a mate of mine from Huddersfield told me last year. Apparently when Reuben was a young kid he had a game with my mates team and they were very impressed with him but he wasn't bothered about football at all. He said it was a right pain getting him to play.
