Definitly is about opinion. Rather play for England at any sport than a hybrid lions team. An outdated concept that has no real relevance in modern day rugby. Maybe back in the day when getting to australia took a few months and the sport wasnt professional.

Still could be talking rubbish as the england cricket team should be renamed the english and south african cricket team. Really is daft all this playing for any old country, if your born here you can play here, if not you cant. Instead of focusing on our own talent the scouts are out poaching every other countries. Rant over.

Rather lift the world cup for england than any other sporting achievement.

    Laughable really laughable.

I dont even like rugby union that much but i know the fact is gatland took out a less experienced member of the front row and replaced him with EXPERIENCE leading to the scrum dominating and winning the match. So what ****** are you talking about besides digging out steele and hassel.

It is opinions...perhaps I'm older than you but to call it an 'outdated concept that has no real relevance etc' I just don't understand, admittedly I'm a believer in tradition, and for me the idea of being a Lion is the highest sporting aspiration you could have as a player....but 35,000 people travelled to watch it in Australia...I would doubt even the England football team could ever take that support anywhere and packed houses at the games would suggest to me it's still bang on the money for even the most modern business concept..my only gripe is it's on Murdochvision...but even that allows me the little victory of giving him 2 fingers and watching it on the internet.
PS to call it a hybrid team...just totally misses the point,it may be so at football, I completely agree, but not so in Rugby.I'm not having a snidey pop at you with this, but I guess you've never been a Rugby player,I think you'd be hard put to find a player in these islands that would agree with that description.

5 countries of around 70 million cobbling a team together to beat 20 million person Australia at their 9th most popular sport isn't worth getting excited about. Everyone knows League and AFL attracts all the decent players in Aus.

    British Lions my arse.

Any team containing Irish, Scottish, Welsh and posh English blokes I'm going to be wanting whoever they're playing to win.
