Have you ever thought about demonizing the greedy multi million/billion Aires that are screwing us out of billions & billions?
It will be easier for UK citizens to move and work abroad after we leave the EU than it was before we entered, that's what you're saying? It's a bizarre claim.
How have I misread that? I replied to your point that people lived and worked abroad before us joining the EU by asking if it was still as easy as back then. You replied by saying it's undoubtedly even easier particularly since Maastricht in 92. Did you not mean that?
We're obviously wires crossed...or you're being slightly disingenuous (apologies if that is not the case) You asked if it was still as easy as back then...I would have thought you would be well aware that it has never been easier than it is now (again apologies if you did not know that) you did though seem to know judging by your answer that I had made a bizarre claim. Why did you ask the question if you already knew the answer?
Using a question to illustrate a point is well established linguistic style. This whole thread is about leaving the EU. You made the point that people lived and worked abroad before we joined, and I believed you were inferring they would be able to after we'd left. I was making the point that things have changed hugely since we joined the EU in terms of migration. I'm personally effected by the worldwide clampdown on migration. When we leave the EU I believe living and working abroad will be hugely more difficult than before we entered. Your posts seem to me to suggest you don't think so and I'm keen to learn why you think that is
You're reading too much into it Jay...I was inferring nothing....the OP's wording suggested that the freedom to live and work abroad was brought to us but the EU, I was pointing out that people lived and worked abroad before the EU....no more no less.
Just stepping back to your last post...and a genuine question (without any other motive) What is the problem you're having as regards migration.
As an example, anyone remember Auf Weidersehn Pet! Wasn't that several years before FoM was signed off in the Mastricht Treaty?
Free movement of Labour was allowed for many years before that, Maastricht was more relevant to people, not necessarily jobs related.
That was the point I am making. All the talk of loss of free movement post Brexit - much of the debate and concerns relate to the impact on overseas study and employment. I remember reading somewhere, the original intent of the EU 'freedom of movement' apparently (from sources within the EU itself) was to provide easy access to employers to the workforce within Europe with minimal barriers. It morphed into freedom of movement for those seeking employment. Not sure where that came from but it was definitely attributed to one of the original architects of the EU. Given the Maastricht Treaty I suspect simply winding the clock back will not be easy although most employment related movementbetween countries is driven each individual country's domestic laws not by overarching EU control. e.g. Like the UK, Italy decides which non-EU country applicants can live and work there NOT the EU.
Yes, i hate them as much as I hate the lazy ******** who refuse to work and demand hand outs. Note I'm talking about those who don't want work, not those who struggle to find employment
