And, from an overcrowded jail, a borderline dangerous person goes free,
Jack Straw you ******* ****.

What kind of crime are the decision makers most worried about?
We could carve each other up and rape all day but woe betide the pleb who nicks a pile of cash.

So what should we do then? If someone is involved in an armed and violent robbery and steals millions of pounds then escapes from prison and goes on the run for 35 years only to return to britain when he needs healthcare. Should we lock him up for his violent crime and for him fleeing prison? Or should we say aww bless him he's old now so lets just forgive him for his crimes and let him go about his life? I'm glad I live in a country where the first option was chose.
RE: So what should we do then? ST thats not exactly my point but i do see where you're coming from. After considering the decision i happen to to think that it is the right one but if the decision is one to purely grab ratings then it is wrong. There are people let out of prison after serving a fraction of the time they got, were far more dangerous to society and went on to commit further crimes. Why have these been released but Biggs has been kept in? Like the Krays before him i cant help but think it's more to do with him being high profile and the government taking an opportunity to make a political statement about being tough on crime. Lets not forget this Straw cannot be trusted.
Michael Shield should have heard from Mr Straw this week and hasn't maybe this one brings in more publicity
Biggs is about the only prisoner in the UK. Actually getting his just deserts. All the comparisons to me highlight how easy the others are getting it and how more criminals should recieve the punishment they deserve. Just like Biggs is getting. It's not unfair on Biggs. It's unfair on the victims of other criminals that they are being let off so lightly.
RE: Michael Shield should have heard from Mr Straw this week and hasn't The Shields decision was released yesterday. I wasn't suprised by it.
