And to think, just a short time ago they had Alan Shearer up front and they won the Premier League. Proper big club then
Don't get me wrong I used to like blackburn in the Shearer days and still think there a proper club. Just think its abit poor must have some issues at the club for fans to turn there backs
Poor that. Even their lower league local neighbours have cracked 10,000. https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2021/au...-season-tickets-sold-for-league-one-campaign/
The issue is, they don't have a pot to piss in. I think they're actively trying to sell Armstrong, so that they can reinvest some of the money in the squad. The problem is, they're after £20,000,000 for a player in the final year of his contract. The closest I've heard anyone get to this is £12,000,000 from Southampton, which was rejected. There will come a time where they will need to sell, and they'll have to accept whatever they're offered. But whether they'll do it in time for them to reinvest the money is anyone's guess. Then they've to replace a 25+ goal striker too. You can see why the fans aren't optimistic. Maybe some of it is then voting with their feet, as they've 33% fewer season ticket sales than 19/20. They are real relegation candidates. I can see them keeping Armstrong now, having a steady start to the season, and then selling him in January for about £8,000,000 and collapsing. Similar to how Hull did when they sold Jared Bowen. There are some similarities between the two.
They don't if Blackburn play hard ball, and let Armstrong leave on a free next summer. I think Blackburn need to be realistic with what they're going to get out of this deal and cut their losses before its too late.
