thats missed the point slightly. Does it not depended on where you are in the cycle of building a team? Right now, it looks like we are moving in the direction. Hopefully at the end of the season we will be in with a shout. But at the building stage we are in right now, we would struggle in the Championship. In other years you can still be a work in progress at the end of the season. Obviously its dynamic and the team is always changing, so its about degrees of change and stability.
We are constantly going to be building a team. As much as it's nice the manager and board on about building a team for future years it's not realistic. Already in January we could end up with bids coming in for 4-5 players and lose our best loanee from our front line. Then you end up with a situation similar to Keef when he lost so many in January when it looked like we were doing well. I hope we've plans in place for if the likes of Houriane, Cole, Bree, Berry and Winnall aren't around long.
I couldn't actually care which division we play in, it hurts like hell to lose a game and il cheer as loud as the next man when we win a game, I though during last season I would be in the 'stay up' camp... I've actually found myself enjoying the games that little bit more this year however
Blackpool or Barnsley... and even OR Birmingham City well lets face it Brum too nearly went down. They are not in that good a state now either. I am very happy with the way things are shaping for BFC right now. I just wish I could attend more often... but in a year or so I retire and that will answer that problem.. also I will not have to get a season ticket as I will sit in the lap of JLWBL better than a 'Lazyboy' if not it will be Jay ... better than a 'LadyBoy'
Re: Blackpool or Barnsley... and even OR Birmingham City I've actually found a lot of the teams and the football played by ourselves & other teams has been better than a third of the championship teams last year. This has really surprised me, league one was proper dog **** 10 years ago compared to now. The championship has become a lot more average....or should I say closer now in terms of ability! The premiership has gone that big due to silly money, that the leagues below are so far behind and are all not to far apart from each other!!
Re: Blackpool or Barnsley... and even OR Birmingham City Another related question then - given that this year is proving to be much more enjoyable for many than last year, if you had the choice of continuing with the small progress steps being made this season and it resulting in squeezing into a top 6 spot by the end of the season and scraping promotion, pretty much like 2006, or missing out this season but continuing the progress being made to storm next season with 100 points and have a season to remember for years, would you go for the extra year at this level and take the season to remember next year, or would you prefer to get back to the championship at the first opportunity? Personally, if I could see into the future and see that happening, (a season like Wolves had last year), I'd be happy to wait 2 or 3 years to build the team to that level. I'd love a season where we won everywhere we went, every week. We'd take thousands to every away game.
Re: Blackpool or Barnsley... and even OR Birmingham City Extra season for sure. Rebuild and have a solid season so our better players believe they're going to be part of something big and aren't tempted to leave, then smash the division next season. Easier said than done but would be a dream come true if it happened.
