Lofthouse playing really well at RB for Burton. Can also do a job at LB so could be a valuable squad player next season.

If Bland carries on improving he'll have to get a different surname...

Hopefully in the next couple of years we see Wilkinson, Yoganathan, James and possibly Dyer all getting regular game time too mate!

I’ve been banging on about giving our own young players a chance. But instead of investing time in their development we’ve spent a load of money on average players instead. Our kids might only be average themselves, but they’re ‘our’ average players and you might find some gems.

Bland, Flavell, Barrett and Jalo aren’t the finished article but they’ve all done well. But these lads were played out of necessity rather than being given a chance (Jalo maybe excepted). That attitude needs to change.

I’d like to see a point where our academy players make up a good proportion of the side mixed in with fewer but better quality signings.

    True.

And it’s where the money is for the club.

Get em playing, get em developed more, get noticed, sell for £££ and then repeat.

If managed correctly, along with a sprinkle of experienced players and a few overseas ‘gambles’, I’ve no issue with this. It can be successful on and off the pitch.

I can see him there next season once we are done with our summer transfer business.

No pressure on the lad, but similarities to Stones? Learnt his trade in central midfield, then deployed as a first team full back. Interesting, and exciting
