Yeah well, you better agree with it or else you might go to Oakwell one day and whoops, it's gone missing. Now, now, where could it have gone... should've kept up your payments to DoyleCo shouldn't you.

I certainly wouldn't let my young lad go into the Ponty End, but not a problem in the East Stand, other than the possibility of someone having a heart attack and falling on him.

Re: All this is all very well

On the first match of the season, at the top of the steps to the upper west, a butch lady steward blocked my way and said quite aggressively "are you supposed to be up here?" Like I was trying to get in the fecking royal box or summat. Shenk was there, he saw it all. If she had asked politely I would have produced my ticket, as would happen sometimes in the past, when we were well supported.

Not one to make a fuss, a few choice words and I reduced her status, authority and probably her self esteem, to that of a squished pea. Then quietly took my seat to watch us get battered by Wigan.

It is very high (think the wages of couple of first team players) and some games have more police presence than others.

My two penneth....... Not one mention of our state of the art 'copper box' above the tunnel. Decked out, with I'd guess tens of thousands of £'s worth of CCTV. Surely to avoid any potential increased policing costs/FA fines the tiny minority who have chucked a flare or smashed a seat could be easily identified?!? If it is utilised to its full potential (last Saturday would suggest not) then all well and good.

Do we have to pay towards town centre policing on matchdays? Or just in the close surrounding area in and around the ground?

I believe it's only in the ground and the land that the ground is on e.g car parks.

Everything else is paid for by the Police.

Whatever it is, the cost is ridiculous considering they are policing a public event!

Anyway you could find out? The amount of police in the town centre before some games is laughable, I can understand the high profile ones having a few extra bodies around the town but the majority of games doesn't require the amount they have. I remember Leeds winning a court case in regards to paying for over the top policing in the city centre on matchdays.

Can you not say how much it is mate?

Understand if you're not at liberty to divulge information like that though.

But I've heard people say it's a ridiculous amount but no actual figures. Would be nice to know how much it is each time we have her majesty's finest at each game (which like you say is a public event that anyone can attend)

    £5,000 £10,000 £15,00, £20,000+ per game?

    Re: CCTV looks everywhere ?

I believe the usual tactic and the one that was followed at the time of the smoke bomb was to lift the culprit on the way out. Not sure what was different on Saturday though!

Hehe. In that case the stewards deserved everything they got.

I've given up turning round to look.

Nutkins has called it all spot on.

Yes of course it is. Those causing problems on Saturday will probably get a knock on the door if South Yorkshire police deem it appropriate.
If they are sat in there own seats it easier to indentify them though?
