You do realise that bobby hassell turned down a wage another clubs which given what they offered would set him for life. In a big way. Loyalty is a two way street. For turning down the pot of gold and dedicating his future to barnsley as he did, a contact and a testimonials the very least we can offer as a club. Remember we are talking about a man who stops behind to coach the youth players. A man who is well respected by just about everyone who has met him in or out of the game and a fixture within OUR community with his work with young kids.
We are not in a financial position to offer contracts on sentiment. Unless he can hold a first team place which he hasn't been able to do then he has no further us to us. If he has turned down offers which would have set him up for life I would like to know who from because he is a below average defender whos level is League One at best.
How do you know that Bobby Hassell wasn't TOLD not to go by the **** temporary manager that we have fecking things up for us at the moment?
Seen him at Lester in the stands with his mum and son, and palace on a Tuesday night with just him Mum last season, his son and mum go to every away game no matter who's in the squad never seen his son mid week though but his mum is there every game his wife makes most Saturday games too, ive seen Bobby at a few others too to be honest i can't remember where though, his son goes with his mum to home games too but then pisses off with a load of young kids his own age once he gets there they both sit in the Ponty end for home games, but his wife sits in the corner stand
Wasnt he in squad at king power? He was not there at london road when the club needed him to be. JT in football with how barnsley are we have to think about wages. thats just how it is. Hes on champ sal with leahuw ability manlito'a post above right.
Same here, I understood the first bit 'Bobby is a thug and I hate him because he's had a job longer than I've had pubes' but I can't for the life of me work out what the last bit means.
not last season he was sat in stands in front of me, are you sure he'd not been told to stay away on Tuesday through illness
I am just going to say this once, so make sure you take it all in Philip. Bobby Hassell was told not to travel to Peterbro`, he was told his services were not required and he was told that he would be a distraction if he was there. See you were pleased he was not in the squad and said he shouldnt be there, but that was on Monday, now when you think you can score some points on him, because tyrone and Manlito are in the thread you think you will have some back up. But all you are doing is proving just what a complete dick you are. If you ever get a job where you stay 9 years and give loyal service, I hope that the mnanagement of said company do not treat you as shoddily as these morons that have been in charge of picking the team at Barnsley, have done with Hassell. Whilst he might not and has never been the greatest player to ever play football, he has something that most footballer can only dream of, A RELATIONSHIP with the fans that shows how well thought of he is by 99.9% of Barnsley fans, not withstanding his loyalty and dedication to the town. he stays on after training working with the youngsters , if you listen to the young ones you would realise just how much work he puts in with them, something that gets over looked and others often take the praise for. Now that is all I have to say on the matter, whether you continue your diatribe against Hassell is up to you, but nall you are doing is alienating yourself further from reality.
If he ever gets a job and stays for 9 years? Oh come on Mark, we all know he won't get 9 years in in TOTAL between now and him hitting retirement age nevermind at one company. I'd be amazed if he gets 9 months continuous service anywhere to be honest.
I have suggested to Phil in the past that he speaks to John Stones and asks him how important Bob has been to him as a footballer and a young man. He doesn't reply. And on the community - Phil has no affection for or affinity with Barnsley, apart from accidentally starting to support the football club at some point during it's glorious 2008 cup run. He's always putting us down and reminding us that NO good sportsmen come from South Yorkshire apart from the one's in BFC's academy who are worth millions. And the one's who won Olympic medals last summer too.... Oh no, hang on - he did say the Olympics is not real sport so they don't count. I hate to single out one bloke but he does bring it on himself.
