RE: I can't see Cryne taking his bat and ball home over Davey .. Surely PC doesn't think we're punching above our weight given the targets he set Davey at the beginning of the season.
Our Championship history was written a decade ago, times moved on, the cost of survival has changed the rules of the game beyond recognition. You cannot keep drawing a comparison with where we were in the late 80's and early 90's cos its not relevant anymore. The club are rightly trying to be prudent in an environment where wages, agents and players demands are out of control.
RE: We are not punching above our weight I think this website it largely ignored. Booing the manager and shouting for him to be sacked after 2 defeats doesnt.
RE: I can't see Cryne taking his bat and ball home over Davey .. maybe after a closer exposure to how the transfer market works and has tempered is expectations. Hardly going to say survival will do again, with season ticket sales pending, was he.
RE: Our Championship history Money has always played a factor in football. It's no different now than it was then other than the figures are higher, but so are the admission fees and the sponsorship money and the TV revenue and we get a slice of that just like everyone else. We're a championship club and I know for a fact that Mr Cryne thinks so.
But hold on a second.. It is Cryne who has set expectations of "top half finishes". is it unreasonable to then expect signings and god forbid, performances in line with this expectation? It might be better to be a bit more honest regarding these "contraints " rather than talking things up when erm, erm, I can't say. Perhaps also more information on what the club is spending "time, money and effort on" would not go amiss either.
Can't see how anyone can complain at that when you've sacked a manager for not being ambitious enough. Expectations were raised by saying we needed to change to be challenging for the play-offs under the new, ambitious, hungry young manager. Manager has been talked up, he now needs to deliver.
RE: Our Championship history we are a Championship club by appointing and supporting a manager that has worked effectively in the transfer market in signing players on a budget, mostly off the radar of other clubs and getting them to play well as a team. But to ask some, that just doesnt register. Ive no idea how much money PC has put into the club this financial year, but I bet its significant. Again. Even with our prudent transfer policy. That doesnt seem to satisfy some people, and you understand if the benefactor gets upset by it, and even might consider, is it actually worth it...
RE: It must have been ignored. He's still employed! nt be interesting to see the reaction tonight if we go a goal down and the Ponty start grumbling, as is their want. Take your binoculars and have a look at the directors box. Stronger together.
RE: It must have been ignored. He's still employed! nt So is it all the fans fault then? That we persist with KO and Rigters when we could at least give our own youngsters a blast rather than Blackburn's and a no hoper. It does not necessarily need a big signing just a reaction from Davey as to what does not work. i know it's a difficult situation and when PC talked about a "top half finish" to be quite honest I laughed at his shall we say optimism as I expected nothing more than what we have got - a relegation scrap. And no, we don't want that forever and neither should we. Let me know what the reaction is as I don't own any. The reaction should be aimed at Davey and the players as it is they who fail to get it right.
