I will do in the next few years. I'm desperate to go back to Florida though; I've thought about it for the last 15 years, and I'm finally in a position where I can afford it. Also, I want to do the parks without kids (not that I'm planning them anytime too soon).
What's the crack with getting into America now, last time I went you just had to fill a card out on the plane telling them where you were staying?
You don't do that now. You have to complete ESTA application online before you go (recommended 72 hours before), pay about $14 and it's valid for 2 years no matter how many times you go.
I did America last year, 4 days in vegas, before flying to miami beach for a night and then hiring a car and touring the Keys for ten days, stopping in Key West and Islamorada. To coin an American phrase I got sick of hearing. AWESOME!
And be careful where you do it, as there are some sites that claim they'll do it for you and charge you on top. This is the correct site https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
Oo, ours should still be valid then. Unless it's only valid if you go back to the same state? I'll look into that, thanks.
Its not state specific but you should be able to log into the esta site and change where your staying and address if known. Its free
All i have to do is flash my green card, although it runs out whilst i am back in England for my nieces wedding in june. Have a letter from Homeland security with a 1 year extension.Went for my biometrics done for new green card this week and was told it can take between 6-9 months for new one to arrive. Cant believe its been 2 years since i arrrived here time flys when your having fun.
The one that always gets me is being able to make a right turn on a red light (not everywhere), I'm always getting someone behing me sounding their horn because I just hold off until the light changes!
Met my now wife online and after we got married i came over. It was the best move i have ever made. Live in a great place/ town called Bethesda, work at one of the most iconic country clubs in USA And its 80 odd degrees right now, Life is good.
I didnt find it too nerve wracking driving over here the first time i tried it. Although US drivers are very impatient and never use turn signals (indicators). If driving on a highway always remember the exit will be where the sign is, if its on the left of the board its a left exit and vice versa.
I've driven in the States a few times and had no problems, went from San Francisco to San Diego and round LA without incident. Only dodgy trip I had was coming out of a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Southern Florida with pickups full of Rednecks firing shot guns in the air and careering off the Highway , mental
