In a normal sense yes, if it continues indefinitely the only way forward I see is for all mortgages/rents to be frozen with utility bills too. Whatever happens it ain’t gonna be easy for anyone
Freezing rent is fine it is essentially free rent given to everyone who rents. Freezing mortgages really won't help at all in the long run as it's simply a loan that has to be paid back when you're due to retire
So if their tenancy ends in September they'd have to back pay around 6 months rent? That's just crazy and will put people on the streets in the future
I assume you're thinking of private landlords who live directly on the rent money their property generates rather than the numerous businesses that let, manage and service rental properties?
Bang on. We're not rich by any means. Certainly not middle class wealthy. We also live in a remote location with less than great internet. The step daughter and all her class have been taking lessons on line every day for a week. No fancy laptops just their mobile phones. Problem free. The idea that education will grind to a halt is codswallop. Ireland organised this within days. Is anyone going to tell me the UK can't?
They absolutely have. They already had the contingency plans in place. They were blindsided by the news at 2 working days notice that they would have to continue to provide school diners and remain open for an undefined number of kids, but the online learning is covered. But this online learning is in no way a substitute for learning within a school environment, or the impact of being isolated from their classmates until possibly September or beyond on their development.

Ioannidis is professor of medicine, of epidemiology and population health, of biomedical data science, and of statistics at Stanford University and co-director of Stanford’s Meta-Research Innovation Center. He’s also correct.
Perhaps it's easier to do such things when a country has a population of only 5 million. I don't know. It'll just take the UK a little bit longer I guess considering the practicality of population.
Fair comment but it's clearly been shown that it can be done. And relatively easily. Kids here were told to take all their books home by the end of the week before last and by the following Monday were taking lessons via the zoom app.
