I know those who had a season ticket prior to the premier were guaranteed. Around 3.5k I think. But I reckon we sold out. Apart from holding so many back for pay on dayers which I believe was and possibly still is a requirement
Don’t know about increasing the size of grounds unless you are going to maximise profits on servicing the crowd. Went to the Emirates a couple of seasons ago and it was like watching football in a six star hotel. Opportunities to spend money everywhere. You need an enormous following to make that viable. I’m in my 70s and live in Cambridge, I held a season ticket in my 60s and travelled to every home game. I’d like to see an I follow season ticket for all games and I’d gladly pay for it. I wonder how many others would buy one?
If I moved further away than the present 50 miles I would certainly consider one. It gets to the point where travelling and sitting in the cold for a good part of the season gets less attractive. I enjoyed yesterday, mostly, but there have been Saturdays this season (and midweeks) where I have thought "No, not today. Stay home and watch it on the screen". Even at £10 a go it is cheaper than a match day ticket plus a hundred miles of petrol. That doesn't make me less of a fan by the way . The problem is that I have sort of become an iFollow addict since that "no fans" season and I now find I want to watch every match home and away, whether that be on iFollow or attending Oakwell. Those £10 subscriptions are mounting up but it's what I want to do so there it is. At that rate I would spend £460 for a full season of home and aways so, maybe a £300 iFollow season ticket would appeal to me, and some others no doubt. Of course though the system has to consistently work and, in general, it does for me. I read that a lot were having real problems with it yesterday though.
Don't think Leicester fans would agree. Won chuff all whilst at Filbert Street for 100 years. Won the Premier League, FA Cup and qualified for Europe since moving to the King Power not long ago.
Some shenanigans there... https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ball-league-financial-fair-play-investigation
