. Edit - adding another browser has confused my phone. Mitchell's eye and temple were a reyt mess, ref did right to stop it.
His power is destructive. And he can box and move like a MW. Needs his chin properly testing yet though. He'll unify the division due to there being not much left once Klit retires.
Fury would have no chance against AJ because he doesn't punch hard enough to get a one-punch knockout (which I reckon is the only chance he'd have to beat AJ) and he leaves himself wide open. Fury has had to pick himself off the floor to win a few times, but when AJ hits people they stay hit. Don't get me wrong, Fury has improved a lot over his last few fights, but I just can't shake the opinion I formed of him several years ago when I decided he was a bit of a joke. The only Brit that would have a chance against AJ is David Price, because there's no harder puncher than him, but the only way Price would land a clean punch on AJ is if AJ stands in the centre of the ring with his hands behind his back for 30 seconds. I can't imagine that Price would really want that fight though, even though he's brought it up a few times. I reckon there's probably a fight against someone like Chisora, Thompson or Browne to come for AJ and then there's no point in holding him back.
Aj is like a young mike tyson knockout king,17stone of muscle thought the fight would have lasted longer tonight sent out a big message to thehheavyweight division
Brook showed he's at top level too. Took Gavin to pieces really without getting out of 2nd gear. Expected but he did what he had to. Would love to see him fight khan next but I just don't think khan fancies it.
Not watched tonight's action yet, just got back from London, I'll watch it in morning, but Joshua is sort of doing this side of the pond what wilder did at the other side, they look to be on a collision course for 2/3/4 years time these two and once AJ as stepped up a bit over next 24 months it be fight of the century
Was randomly flicking the tv and came across a channel called spike last night, had live boxing on from magma is Rotherham, a lad called josh something from Barnsley was fighting against a welsh lad, was well beaten but got the most shocking homer decision I've seen in a very long time.
Fury's a lot better than most give him credit for. Only a year older than AJ but with a lot more bouts under his belt. I think his great technique and quick hands would be an issue for anyone in the division and he's a warrior, he wouldn't merely stand there like Johnson did last night, taking punch after punch. I admire AJ, I fully expect him to go on and be the greatest heavyweight we've ever had, but despite Johnson's record of never being stopped he's been on the decline for some time now and spent four and a half minutes last night trying to survive against AJ's ferocious power who had free hits at him throughout. It wasn't a test at all, and it really is time that he stepped up now, face someone who might at least throw some punches his way. For people to suggest Price or Chisora, I see no point. He'd blast both of them out of there. Fury made a mockery of Chisora last time out, schooled him, was never hit himself. No point in AJ fighting him. And Price can't take a shot, it'd be over in the first round. But as much as I love Tyson, I'm not silly enough to pretend he'd not be the underdog against AJ, already. He can take a shot, Tyson, but the power AJ has looks frightening and would blast anyone out. Not sure Fury would be able to dance around him, tire him out or whatever. I think his only chance would be to have a tear up from the get go, try and blast AJ out. He's not got the power of AJ, but he's got slick combos and might do well on the inside. And, who knows yet if AJ can take a shot? That's going to be the question asked until he finally does get hit. But as it stands, whether you're Fury or Klitschko, you're steering clear of him, surely? Ideal world - Fury gets Wlad for the titles over here, produces his very best and wins (I'd fancy him in that more than I would against AJ) and then Fury vs Joshua would be the biggest British fight at that level the country has ever seen. Only my opinion though. And I still can't get over how good the Linares-Mitchell fight was. World class from round one and Kevin will eventually win a world title, he's too good not to.
Agree with much of that Andy, except I'd float Bruno-Lewis as a pretty big heavyweight bout. I'm also not sure Mitchell will win a legit world title, mainly due to the fact that he's done some heavy mileage. Last nights war and (e.g.) the Katsidis fight amongst others have a lasting effect on a boxer. He's a great talent and a real warrior, I just wonder if his body will fail him.
He cuts easily, that's the issue I think. But he was well ahead on my scorecard D) before the ref stopped it. I see your point on Bruno-Lewis, just feel an unbeaten Fury vs an unbeaten AJ for heavyweight titles at Wembley would be as big as it gets.
Both of these points are spot on. It's easy to forget how big Lewis vs Bruno was looking back. Especially in a world back then where boxing was in the mainstream. Mitchell's only chance of a world title is if he gets a shot at Matthews (although that is only an interim belt I believe), or if Crolla wins his fight in July and Hearn takes him down the domestic route. Mitchell is a solid fighter, but his opponent last night is arguably the weakest of the current champions.
