Potts, like all our new players, has made a big step up in class. They've made a much bigger leap than the likes of Winnall, Hourihane, Scowen, Mawson, Roberts & Watkins did when they signed for us. Personally, I'm more than willing to give all these lads time to adjust to the Championship, rather than writing them off so quickly. I see no reason to doubt these players can't progress with us. Being the contrary, old git that I am, the more folk criticise young Brad (or any of the other new players), the more I like & rate them!
Have only the two games v Blackpool to judge him before he joined us and he was by far and away the best player on the pitch at their place. My son said he was a game changer yesterday when he came on, started pushing their central midfield back and linked up well with Isgrove too. The one thing we are going to see with him, and many of the other younger/newer signings, in my opinion, is inconsistency. But I like him, and think we're generally better with him playing.
Like a number of our new and on loan players he is young and taking a giant leap in class. There is bound to be a certain degree of inconsistency but I find it hard to see how he can be written off - all I see is a lad sweating his wotsits off for my football team.
As has been said he's young, made a big step up and will have good games and bad. I've seen him have decent games and ones where he was quiet but he works hard. Will he make it? I don't know, I hope so. One thing I do know....he's not "piss poor".
Inconsistency is basically the word to sum up our season so far. Draw, loss, draw, won, draw... last few games. We've not gone on any long losing run (long may that continue!) but likewise we've not got any consistency in terms of wins. To be honest that's exactly what I expected. It's what happened in the 2014-15 season in League One - very little consistency. All players are adapting but getting better, but also have off-days. It's a bit frustrating but could be far worse, and threatened to be far worse based on performances against Rotherham and Bristol City around the start of the season. And as someone mentioned on here the other day, we're only 3 points behind where the team with Hourihane, Winnall etc. was after the same number of games last season
Potts is the Marley Watkins of the new side. Not a pure & total footballer, but a handful. Someone who will mix it & defenders hate that kind of player. That type of player only scores occasionally, but akes the space for the others. This was clearly shown in the second half performance. For me one up is not a negative formation, if you have Potts & Barnes / Hedges up there. More dangerous than our currant front 2 options.
