My mates been and picked six up from Bradford yesterday for his friends and family travelling from Selby every week.... The thing that has helped them to secure the extra interest is obviously the cup runs and promotion trips to wembley. They are riding on the crest of a wave at the minute and the cheap tickets have only fuelled that whereas we've been in the main struggling year on year in the championship then eventually relegated. That and the different size of our catchment area is why they are able to offer this deal and we haven't. We could possibly have been more innovative after our cup run in 2008 or after promotion in the play offs but we weren't and we've lost fans as a result. We have got fans we used to sell out when we got to the premiership and until we get back there I can't see it improving.... If it takes as long as last time I'll be 108 when we get back.....oh!
Well, she is now as she's got a season ticket for a second season and considers herself a supporter of them. How do you ever expect to sell more season tickets without attracting new fans? We could just wait until all the 'real fans' get old and die out and then just shut the gates I suppose.
You might be but there's lots of people who would be firmly behind your statement. There's a lot of fan snobbery on his board.
Hows abart if bring a new customer/lapsed season ticket holder and get them signed up for the season then you both get one for £149 or what ever discount the club see fit. Just a thought.
Agree. Maybe if we are top 6 by mid-season we can implement a similar policy and sell a cheap half-season ticket to fill up the stadium for the final push..?
Out of interest Whitey how much do they charge for kids ( the ones we give free with an adult) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The last time Bradford City were in this league and charging full prices they had an average attendance of 8,200. They've performed a minor miracle increasing ticket sales by 10,000. Absolutely zero chance of this being tried at Oakwell.
The pricing structure in England is f****d. I still can't get over how it can cost £27 to pay on gate in the 3rd tier Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One problem with charging £150 quid for a season ticket is that fans who normally pay on the day about 10 - 15 times a season cos they dont think a ST is worth it would pay the £149 quid and then the club lose out that way. Such a scheme actually part of the reason Bradford Bulls went into Admin
You'd have to be pretty daft to pay £27 15 times a season because you didn't think a season ticket was worth it...
Do you have to nitpick everything I mean not worth it as they wont be attecnding every game For whatever reason if pay on the day prices are £27 then the club would be losing out selling a £149 ST to anyone who normally pays into 6 matches. Even more so to the ones who pay into 10-15 games. and there will be a very lot of them
Yeah I normally make around 10. I'd appreciate a 10 ticket bundle that works out more than a season ticket per game but less than pay on the day price. I can't see me making many matches at all at £27 tbh as I pay for the uninterested husband to come along too and £54 (plus petrol) is taking the pee to watch a game of footie.
Thats my point, if the club offered a ST for £149 which this thread is about then you would snap it up and the club would lose money.
I don't know if it would to be honest. I limit myself to around 10 a season for money (and medical reasons) but a few of them are normally cup games as they are cheaper. Last season - £23 x 10 = £230 which is of course £80 more but realistically I think at least 3 of those were when tickets where cheaper because of cup/deals etc. so I doubt it was anything like that. Plus if I'd paid less for my ticket I would be more inclined to spend money at the club on food/drink. My dad would get a season ticket with me if it was cheap as he can't make all games because of shifts and he'd pay parking in the ground. Plus, he always buys a programme and picks one up for his mate at work who asks for one when he attends matches. My dad doesn't normally come with me (maybe 2 or 3 a season) as I don't like to ask him with it being expensive and the Government stopping my mam's invalidity benefit of over 30 years recently. I know I pay for the hubby and so I could pay for my dad instead but I don't think he'd let me. Then of course the ground would be fuller so advertisers would be more keen to advertise and the players would be playing for more fans etc.
Got to help with player recruitment too. If a couple of league one sides are in for a player he's likely going to want to join Bradford to play in front of such great crowds, rather than in an half full or less stadium.
