Excellent. I was assuming constant motion for both of us so you've just proven they're the same. By the way, I throw it over my shoulder.
RE: Like **** it does. cat tied up just in front of a treadmill. Dog tied to treadmill. Me in the pub. = Cat cruelty Dog exercised Me drunk Everyones a winner. Well they would be if I had a cat. Or a dog. Or a treadmill.
butttt what do you do towards the end of your run? if say you are a quarter of a throw away from the end of your walk do you still throw it or do you stop?
Big Assumptions i know but here goes! Windy walks at 5mph, Dog runs at 10mph, Stick is thrown 1 mile. Walking forward and throwing forward Windy covers 0.66 of a mile in 8mins and dog runs 1.33 of a mile in 8 mins. So very Hour dog would run 60/8 x 1.33 = 10 miles. Walking forward and throwing backward Windy covers 2 miles in 24 minutes and dog runs 4 miles in 24 mins, So every hour dog runs 60/24 x 4 = 10 miles. This is assuming that you have an unusually long throw and is also in a straight line from the direction you have worked to and from!
i would say that throwing it backwards give the dog a longer workout because you would presumably throw it straight away when the walk starts so from the very beginning dog A has the extra distance 'in the bag' and at the end of the run the final throw will probably take place before the end of the walk so that means that the extra distance that dog B would run forwards is probably less than what dog A ran backwards at the start.
of course this depends on if you throw straight away and also on the timing of the final throw which will most likely vary depending on how the other throws throughout the walk pan out.
