RE: Bugger - wish I'd known a week ago

You must have missed the reply I put to your comment that you were in Texas and couldn't get a decent beer - I mentioned that website but couldn't link to it as I was at work and alcohol related websites are blocked

Unfortunately, Barnsley town centre is lacking somewhat in real ale establishments, and we did end up going elsewhere. However, perhaps addressing my comments to the owners, as I have done, will help them address issues that can lose them custom.

    Have to aagree Eaststander!

Bramahs seems to be the worst service in town. Now this is not merely due to the managment not having enough staff on for the level of custom. The staff do not seem to be trained. I have been left waiting numerous times whilst they have chatted or carried on washing up upstairs. Hmm I like the pub but the level of service is at times dire!

It's not just the problem of getting served when the pub is busy I have issues with.

The staff seem lethargic and haven't got a rush in them at any time I have been in . They are slow and inefficient.

With 38 years experience of propping up the bar in many pubs including at least 12 Wetherspoons around the Country I can only say that Bramahs is one of the worst I have ever been in for speed it's service.

    It's much better after 10:00pm

    Hi Druss,

The service is really bad at busy times (9:00 on a Friday / Saturday). It's OK later on when it's a bit quieter.

But, aren't you allocated an area of the bar to work in? If you continually sweep across that area (without lurching backwards and forwards), won't everyone get served (more or less) in a "first come first served" order?

The problems come when staff continually "double back"- or move to completely different area of the bar without warning. It's gets pretty frustrating to be honest - and customers are quite entitled to complain (in the correct manner of course).

that is the plan normally to be assigned an area of the bar to work but unfortunatly some staff don't seem to stick that and will move areas to serve friends and family and such like.
I am not saying all our staff are amazing infact some are utter ***** but there are some of us that work our arses off every shift and then people come on here and slate the lot of us.
As for the comment about us not being busier there is only walkabout and white bear that are any where near as busy as us for as long as us amd their staffing levels are much better than ours tbh but it has to be they have more bar area.
