Just to be clear, I wasn't digging at your post: in the build to the play-off final, every single football podcast/broadcast I listened to stressed how great "the Brentford model" was and how they were doing it all sustainably. Then in the next breath all lamented Wigan's demise, completely without irony. Brentford do incredibly well on transfers and unearthed some thighslappers, for sure; the club's survival is wholly dependent on the benevolence of Mr. Bentham, though.
Brentford will be looking for more than one player as they will sell 2 of their attacking 3/4 l. I suspect Brown isn’t off their list just yet.
Agreed. Toney will be the replacement for Watkins and the Bees will still have £8-10 million in pocket if the rumours are true. They may well still be interested in Brown and I want Forss, who has just slipped down the pecking order again.
Tell you what.....well done posh for taking £10 million.....that my friends is how you do business. Of course they will need a decent replacement.
They'll make more money on other players. And they need it for the obscene wages they're paying Jannson. Pinnock needs another really good season before anyone pays silly money.
What is silly money though? I thought (as did most) he was worth more than double the alleged £2.5 million we sold him for...is he better now?....imho yes he is and hes with a club who get good money for their players.
At the end of the day , a player is only worth what a club will pay , you cannot make comparisons unless the same club buys both players .
£10million for Ivan Toney. I tell you something, that McAnthony is a proper two hat but he can’t half rinse teams for a good transfer fee. What did we sell Moore for in similar circumstances - only us being a division higher?
It was more a cheeky dig at us selling cheap. However, Remembering Toney at us a few years back I wouldn’t gamble on it.
The biggest difference we can make is maximising transfer income. You have QPR wanting £20m for Eze. Toney going for a potential fee (including add ons) of £10m. Yet we've Woodrow who our fans seem happy to move on and not valuing him as much as he should be (hopefully the club have cottoned on to player value). If he goes for anything less than £10m, it will be criminal. Seeing as Toney is going for £10m and never done anything in the championship... I'd now hope that's added £2m-£5m on Woodrows fee. We have to sell. That's obvious. But we don't have to sell all at once and we don't have to sell for peanuts either, unless their contracts stipulate it.
Yeah didn't look anything special whilst with us. Certainly stepped it up in league 1 tho, deserves a chance in the championship but not at 10 mill.
