When comparing barnsley players from the past I never bring stones into it, yeah you could tell he was something special but he made less than 20 starts for us and didn't complete a full season. Same with holgate you could tell he had talent but we never saw the best of his abilities he was still quite raw.
Me neither. That was the end of that publication for me. It's not even that it was Farage, even though I find him despicable, it's that if you take money from a political party you are no longer independent and are no longer of any value. Story you'll like: I know all the bar staff in a certain pub he visited. Because, well, I drink there way too much. Or I did. They smashed his glass after he'd gone. Washing it wasn't enough, they rid the pub of his infection.
Some would disagree. Number of games never came into it. I genuinely thought Holgate would be another Bree. Credit the lad he’s established himself in the team. Would you put Pinnock above those mentioned by Jay. ? As for Stones/Pinnock. If Futcher was playing today he would have given them more than a run for their money. As I’ve said in previous threads when comparisons are drawn. most of those mentioned have been there and done it. I genuinely hope Pinnock will do it given time. Until then. I’ll reserve judgement. And I still hope he has a mare on Sunday.
I'm abit younger than you I'd say the best I've seen and my favourite would be de zeeuw pinnock not far behind. It was no suprise he was a regular in the best defence in league one with us went to brentford and was ever present in the best defence in the championship. Established himself as a championship player could he go all the way and establish himself in the Premiership? I'm not sure, but I wish him all the best apart from when we play against him. As for holgate he had potential, I never thought he would have the career he is having but he was only 18 when he left its very young we had a 19 year old ivan toney who has come on a hell of alot and now top scorer in the championship.
The only positive about having to face Brentford following the nightmare January fixtures is our subsequent run-in to end the season HAS to be easier than every other club.
Lets hope they fail to go up and West Ham come in for him for £25m. Imagine someone telling you 10 years ago that Brentford would be selling players for that much.
Brentford and Leeds were the best teams in the league last year. Brentford were pretty decent the year before as well, I hope they go up as they play lovely football. I just fear that they might be playing us at the right time, we will give it everything tonight and it may take us more than a couple of days to recover, but with our team, never say never.
