    Good looking kid. Destined to be a pro-footballer. Jimmy was a few years older and was an established top flight striker. Didn't take Brian long to be known in his own right and not just Jimmy Greenhoff's brother.

    From Common. Played for the Boys a year younger than his teammates (unheard of before). Played for Racecommon Road school. White Cross under fifteens beat 'em 12-0, His Boys teammate Dougie Wright was our captain. (sadly, he died early as well) I think that Brian was one of the Boys' players who went down as ballboys to the FA Cup final around 1968.

    made a lot of Barnsley people proud to have Brian on the big stage...

    From memory it was Jimmy who went to Holgate, but both were quality players. I was in Locke-Sadler 1968-1973, but left after the fifth form, so I guess we were in the same year.

    Locke-Sadler (Locke particularly, and I was Locke) were the perennial underdogs, maybe that's why I'm still going to Oakwell 45 years later... :eek:
