itv digital.

Without patrick cryne's help would Gordon Shepherd have kept us out of administration if we were to suddenly have million's taken off us like what happened with itv digital?

he did do a great job in many respect's but made huge ****-ups as well.

    If I recall correctly

The structure of the shareholding of Barnsley FC 1887 vintage was given as the reason that we couldn't be made aware of the financial problems at the club, nor could the club's assets (ie land) be utilised for the benefit of the club.

Now the BFC board at the time didn't anything illegal , but morally - well, that's up for debate. Ask shareholders at the time that tried to extract information out of the club. What was it ? The board didn't wish to spread 'panic' ? No, much better to put the club into admin, the result of which is plain for all to see.

Add into all that Matt Dunham, Sean Lewis, and you've got a football club that escaped by the skin of its teeth thanks to Patrick Cryne. Whether PC is the man going forwards who knows ? But we've got a chance.

As you rightly state, the Taylor Report and legislation got all seater stadia built.

The Academy is an excellent training facility....

and one that as impressed future transfer targets when they have visited Oakwell to look at the facilities. We do tend to just look at how many players we have produced through the academy but its also the first teams training facility and its use for football in the community is second to none. I often wonder when people on here talk about closing the academy, do they mean get rid of the teams such as U19's etc is that what people class as the community or completely shut down the academy, sell off the land and go back to a few training pitches for the first team to train on? What about all the hundreds of youngsters that are down there at all the different classes etc, the future of our club. Most teams have an academy these days so l think it would be a step backwards if this was to close. Granted it is a lot of money to run but the club could get some of this back by advertising the indoor centre for hire etc a bit more than they do at the moment. I have played 5 a side on it and its quality.

And you, my Bipolar friend, should be more worried:

feelings of unhappiness that do not go away.

    losing interest in things.

    being unable to enjoy things.

finding it hard to make even simple decisions.

    change of appetite.

    weight loss or gain.

difficulty sleeping or sleeping too much.

    going off sex.

    being fidgety or restless.

    tiredness and loss of energy.

excessive feelings of worthlessness or guilt.

being unable to see a positive future.

    having trouble thinking or concentrating.

finding it harder to be with people.

having thoughts that one would be better off dead or thoughts about hurting oneself.

difficulty in performing normal activities such as work, taking care of things at home or getting along with people.

the main problem with the academy

is that you can only recruit players from within a certain radius of the club, so when you have Leeds, Sheff U, Wendy to compete with it makes it difficult to attract the players at a young age unless you are a Barnsley fan, hopefully the under 11 season ticket will help with this.

Producing quality professional players is the aim from the Academy ..

..... and it has failed miserably, and the cost is multi millions from what I hear.

I accept your arguments about the 'spin-off' benefits, like kids using the facilities, but we would still have the training facilities if we scrapped the Academy set up

"take the things he's done and put them on a disk"

I think PC has coined a new footballing phrase there. Get rid of "at the end of the day"... we can now say things like...

"It was a tough game but when you take our chances and put them on a disk, I think we deserved to win."

"I didn't know what to eat for tea but when I took the options and put them on a disk, I decided fish fingers and beans were for me."

    largely irrelevant

alledgedly PC offered to bail out the club in exchange for a shares before admin.

    for starters.

So without dredging up all other instances again (which I have not got the time nor inclination to do) of how JD was responsible for almost taking us to oblivion, I refer you to Albatross's post above.

A real 'all star' list, none playing higher than League One ...

........ we could have bought a Premiership team with the money the Academy has cost
