RE: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"........... I don't think he did have the naivety that you assume Windy. The statement stands on its own as an ideal and is probably nearer to "human nature" than most. Of course how you view it depends on whether the ****-colured specs are being worn.
Or indeed............ ......if you look at the decades of history of any attempts to apply it. They didn't really let you lose on kids did they?
RE: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"........... I know that it's a Karl Marx quote and that it is the basis of communism, I just don't understand exactly what it means.
It means............ .....you can grow wheat and I can mill it and Dirk can bake bread and we all work as hard as we can but take home only the bread we need. Yeah right Carl.
Oh and............ .....a plagiarist needs a better memory than yours little fella, that way you don't use phrases back at the people you knicked em off.
RE: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"........... It also requires people to take personal responsibility for their own actions. How often do we hear "Oh well it will never work because no one will do it" ? To a large degree that's about people using others as an excuse not to do something. The human race relies on communism, not in the political sense of the word just in the basic understanding of doing what's needed to survive. Communism is closer to the basic principles of Chritianity than most people think. And interestingly Marx's views were far more complicated than often believed when it comes to religion.
RE: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"........... Well Frodo (Jay) and Smeagol/Gollom (Windy) will no doubt take issue with that
RE: All well and good, but It basically means the redistribution of wealth - from those with the ability to pay to those in need. So somebody earning pays taxes which are used to help those less well off.
