Basic analogy, meant for the general transfer policy historically rather than Pinnock. Can't argue some clubs aren't able to get good money consistently (Bristol, Posh)
Excellent work! Now Vesp, are you able to name any other things that are not cars? I’ll start you off- angel delight, the Empire State Building, a chicken korma.....
This is why you know nowt about running a football club. Make some pointless comparison between human beings and cars, then gloss over it with some guff about angel delight. Please, continue.
You replied 'people are not cars' ie completely misunderstanding what an analogy is and being unable to argue with the point I was actually making. Contracted footballers are a commodity to be sold by a football club in the same way a car is a commodity to be sold by a car dealership. As you are incapable of understanding that, this conversation can go no further but man alive you don't get to act like you're a superior intellect following it. Still waiting to see if you're able to think of anything else that isn't a car, mind.
You should start your own board where only people who have run a football club get to talk about finances, only people who have ever managed a club get to talk about team selection and only people who have ever run a country get to talk about politics.
Hey, I said folk on here know nowt about running a football club, you then posted that shambles of a comparison trying to show that you know more about managing player transfers than people at the club who are paid to do that very job. All you've done is spout nonsense and proved that you have zero clue. Also, I don't have a superior intellect, but you're making me look like I do.
Fees are crazy right now. Southampton’s spent £20m on Ings & £16m on Che Adams in the last few days. Both of them fees shocked me. It’s always a bit dodgy spending a lot on a player you had on loan the previous season as you’re using up a big chunk of your budget whilst not improving the team from the previous season. Pretty sure Kalas is Chelsea’s longest serving player. The only thing I remember him for is playing in the game at Anfield in 13/14 when Liverpool were going for the title & Demba Ba scores after Gerrard slipped.
https://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/201910-barnsley-forum/ It didn’t look that bad, 1 or 2 saying where are we getting money from, but most recognise we’ve sold a lot and following a model which they are hoping to emulate. We've been buying young players for resale value since Wilson was manager, what are we copying about their model??
I’d argue that, if you get proper value for some of your best players when they move on, you can afford to take the risk of getting nothing from others (but for the extra playing time while they serve out their existing contract). If we continue to sell players for 50% of what other teams would demand then we’ll continue to be at a financial disadvantage, no matter how reliably well we buy and develop.
