That part I don't agree with. They put us in this mess. They should bail us out and take their investment back out when the club is in a more prosperous position.
Different bunch in charge though isn't it? Can't expect them to bail us out cos Conway wasted it all?
Youve kinda just proved my point. Why are we skint? Cos of rank bad management, but we can now use our abject failure and relegation as an excuse to sell more decent players and the fans will actually clap us along because they think weve no other choice. We have.... stop being so **** at running a football club, were just so half arsed. Its much easier to stay in the championship than it is to get out of lg1 and we wont do that by selling our better players and not adequatley replacing them. Which is exactly what we are doing.
Per the other thread. It's clear the existing board make up had little to no power to do anything. And whilst I did originally hold the exact same view of yours not too long ago, I'm not sure now. They are making strides forward, and I'd hate for that to be hindered in future by taking funds back out at a time we could actually use it to take us to the next level. So, I'd say let them deal with what they have been dealt. If that means a couple of slow years to reset then so be it
They only need to sell Helik, Anderson and Collins and we've had the fire sale that wasn't going to happen.
IF Blackburn are prepared to pay in excess of £1m for him then they obviously rate him a good deal more than many on here do. For myself he is one of our quality players who underperformed last year - along with many others. I would have preferred to see him stay.
We're skint. Whatever has happened before is gone. Its done. Nobody is celebrating this ot punching the air in delight. Its just a fact. So players have to be sold. Again, Nobody is celebrating this. People just recognise that we need to sell players.
We can't afford time to reset. The more seasons spent in League 1 will cost more money. Money these owners clearly aren't willing to stump up. They only found that million to keep ticking over for fear of their investment going totally belly up. How long before they cut their losses? I don't believe a word they say. They're doing exactly what Conway did during lockdown. Using the goodwill of the season ticket holders and a few token free transfers.
I don't know what intentions they have. I stated a while back action speak louder than words. So as it stands I'm still "an armchair fan" right now. And only intend to use the remainder of the free tickets I have for the foreseeable. It's going to take a lot more for me to get a ST again and return put it that way. I do however, have more patience these days, so if it takes a couple of years before we are challenging again. It's what it takes. I've found other interests and things to spend my money on these days. But I can recognise the **** they have to clean up
I suppose. Just reading that other thread about Dane Murphy has got my mad up mate. I'm actually quite impressed by the token free transfers.
Can't argue with that pal. I suspect a few more skeletons will surface over the months ahead. But we can't change it now, only move forward. I bet we have a large list of things to get through and clean up from that clown and we are only hearing snippets of a select few right now
If we don't sell players this window, we'll go bust. The lesser of two evils seems to be the better option in the scheme of things.
I thought that Broom rumour was just codswallop? Hes been playing in Peterboroughs friendlies too - if we do get him though as it would excite me since Duff got him playing well. I also may have accidentally reported your comment, was at side of reply button and my fat fingers pressed it but I seemed to have cancelled it - but just incase, sorry!!
if Helik and styles go, I reckon the combination of fees plus wages for everyone that's left, will get us very close, if not beyond, the £6-7m gap. I haven't personally been surprised at any of the departures so far. add Helik and styles to that list, and that's pretty much what I was expecting. if we can stop there though, and keep hold of Collins and Andersen, I'd take that.
How have things got this bad, I am no financial expert myself clearly but we surely are not that skint. Last relegation we barely sold anyone and bounced back instantly. I know we have had COVID since which is a big factor, but that surely hasn't ruined us this much. Posh just come down with us and haven't sold anyone yet aside from Jorge Grant for a tiny fee and don't seem to be in a rush to offload unlike us. I don't get how things are now so bad for us now. We are supposed to be run in a self sufficient way according to the board, they don't pump cash in like other owners so surely it's not as doom and gloom as you say or is it? If it is I would love to understand more.
