Thanks for all the replies, very enlightening. Better than Google is the BBS. I like the look of ZEN, never heard of em till statis tyke mentioned them, small company based in Rochdale, good reviews and a decent price. Will give them a ring soon as my contract with sky ends in november. Once again thanks everyone.

Hee hee, actually it's my annoying habit of making feeble jokes (@TitusMagee will explain further) about internet connections which are less than reliable, and seem to drop out just when things are beginning to get excit

Zen are very good. I have used them for our business for over 6 years, and the speed and reliability have been spot on.

I cannot comment on their customer service, as never had to use them.

Has City Fibre finally gone live in Barnsley? My street was done 2 years ago now, but when I checked online the other week, it still wasn’t live yet.

Ive used Zen for business for about 20 years now - in fact I am using them at the moment they are definitely one of the best, and if you do need customer service they are pretty decent. I would always recommend them

Only dont use them as my home provider because I want 2 different providers incase one has a problem so I can switch my business stuff to my home account if I need to - As long as its not a major fault such as someone crashing into the cabinet and taking out 450 lines including both mine.
    - And they dont do internet TV - as I dont have an option of Virgin, and a sky dish wont work where I am, I am stuck with either BT or TalkTalk for sports channels and BT are the less bad

Update. Gone with Zen, did a bit of research and they look impressive, (famous last words lol). Ordered today. got an installation date of next Wednesday within the Hour. Customer services very helpful and aswered all my questions. I live in Wilthorpe and they installed city fibre on Huddersfield road about 3 months ago. fibre cable comes via telegraph poles, comes with a wi fi 6 router so should be good for my wi fi 6 firestick. 300mps, 150mps min guaranteed. Fingers crossed I've made the right choice. Thanks for all the imput.

Review sites are pure bull ****, particularly with this industry. Often people find problems, generally with speed which is down to their own doing (nativity) and blame the ISP and then flood them with "your ****" comments

Zen (and Andrews and Arnold) have the best reputation in the industry in my opinion.

We just moved to Wilthorpe (Hudds Rd as well) and when renovating the house had the flyer from Vodafone for 1gig FTTP. £35 for 2 years so had it installed.

They said we were the first in the area to have it installed so all the City Fibre bigwigs were supervising the install etc.
Not had any problems at all with the speed or signal. Thought the routers WIFI was a bit weak so set up my own, but even that was quite weak to where I work from home (these older houses have some hefty walls). Ended up the other week running a cat 6 cable to a wallbox on this side of the house and all good.

I was paying roughly the same for Virgin at the previous house for a decent speed so happy with that price fixed for 2 yrs.

Further update ( getting boring now) Cancelled installation, heard from my son ( i t teacher ) about problems with third party routers having problems connecting to q box and mini box for multi room. Did a lot of chasing round internet regarding zens fritzbox and q box. Big problems, so phoned zen tech support this morning and whilst being very helpful and truthfull they did say that there had been problems, their solutions included toggling the wi fi settings from 2.4 and 5 mgh and back again through to using a different router? not prepared to even consider that as a last resort, Soooo, cancelled in order to investigate further. Quite dissapointed as every thing apart from this problem was very positive.
