Correct pal. He did well for you lot, but he was our 7th choice CM in January when we signed Pearson and Grimshaw from MUFC and when he'd had his chances earlier on in the season he'd hadn't taken them. No guarantees he will do well at Championship level. Someone came on the PNE forum and said Brownhill is millions time better than Pearson. Now he's leaving, I've read on twitter by a barnsley fan that "Scowen is twice the player Brownhill is". All quite confusing to be honest. Personally I've been very happy with Ben Pearson since he arrived and he has all the attributes to do extremely well for us providing he keeps his temper in check.
Brownhill has a style that suited how we've played (since January) more than both Pearson and Scowen (imho). I like Scowen and I rated Pearson (in his time here, not seen you play). But Brownhill has allowed Hourihane to really come to the fore, much more than Pearson or Scowen had done. Depends on the role he's given and the style of the players around him as to how he will do.
I agree that he is the most easily replaceable, especially if we are in for George Moncur. Brownhill definitely improved with us, but his skills can be replaced by a similar player and we already have Josh Scowen straining to win back his midfield role as well.
LJ showing his lack of knowledge in the transfer window. When he was with us all his targets were Oldham Players now he's trying to sign players our club have identified. His contribution to our team was Conor fecking Wilkinson
Agreed pal. They are different types of midfield players, so IMO the need for constant comparison between the two is unnecessary. Hopefully they both go on to have great careers.
I was underwhelmed by Pearson when he played for us. Play speeded up noticeably when he left. His sideways and backwards passing seemed to sap all the energy out of us. What I liked about him was his ability to drive with the ball but he did this infrequently. I am sure that he will develop into a good player over the next few years. Brownhill I'm sad he's not coming to us. He's a player who does the ugly things well and him and Hourihane dovetail perfectly. Not sure the move is the best for his career but sometimes money talks I guess.
Disappointed that we haven't kept hold of him, but like somebody said before he's the first team player that I'm least concerned about leaving. Hopefully he's not the first of many to sign elsewhere. I hope Hecky and Ben are working on getting Hammill, Isgrove and Fletcher here for next season. Johnson is getting on my nerves. If he signs Hammill he becomes a full on hate figure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Amazed at the notion that he's easily replaceable. He's 20 years old, box to box, can pass, tackle, shoot & is only going to get better. If they're so easy, why do we never find them? I like Josh Scowen but out of the two, it's Brownhill for me all day.
Easy to replace and not a problem position for us. Way down the 'Must Do' list after new contracts for Hammill/Williams, extensions for Winnall/Hourihane/Davies etc that have only a year left, getting Hecky signed up, finding a replacement for Fletcher.....
Watch this space every one is forgetting about McCourt he'll play a part next season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Apart from the disappointment of losing a player so integral to our success, what really narks me is that this must have been set up prior to yesterday. I know he wasn't our player but the thought that LJ and Bristol City have been tapping up players as we're preparing for a Final is very annoying. I used to like LJ, considered him a decent bloke, but the whole thing smacks of someone with no standards and a very lazy management style. I'll not be giving him any kind of welcome, and I hope Patrick chalks him off his Christmas Card list, because he's been WAY too generous to him.
I think that Josh epitomised everything that a fan wants to see from a loan player. Hard work, effort and a bit of class too. I'll certainly be applauding him when he returns to Oakwell with whichever club that he chooses.
Ben Played how he was told to play. The times he drove forward with the ball showed his own frustation in the "sitting" role
I like the look of McCourt from what I,ve seen busy little player and built like a little tank I bet he can look after himself.
