The budgets for the reds would be better ifall the stay away glory supporters from the premier league season came back to support the club look at the wembley trips last year over 20 k reds fans where are they now probably back in the woodwork
That's the spirit. The more words the better. My comment was not to suggest that John Dennis did a bad job. For most of his time in charge, he did a remarkable job and the achievements that you list were achievements to be proud of. I contrasted John Denis's style to that of Patrick Cryne simply to illustrate that in the end John Dennis was the face of the board. The decisions that the board took were his decisions in that he took the responsibility for those decisions, right or wrong. For me though, the demise of the TV deal came at a time when the club were already over-committed and that was Mr Denis's fault. He blamed the bank and continues to do so, but it is the bank's business to loan money and the bank has expertise to determine whether the loanee has any chance of making good the on the repayments. In their opinion, the club would not have been able to dig its way out of the mess, and the best way was to find new owners before it was too late. I do not know the full details and cannot judge between the two opinions.
Your original post suggested that the club become less conservative. The club does not make decisions, the individuals that run the club make decision and make policy that is the foundation of those decisions. When you suggest the club becomes less conservative, you are suggesting that the decision makers in the club becomes less conservative. You may not have referred to him by name, but you nevertheless referred to him by job description. I think that I got a bit carried away by your use of the words "grand hyperbole" in your original contribution. I am sorry if my reply went over the top, but perhaps your choice of words was also poor.
That's fair enough and reasonable. But my position on our financial aspect has always been a moderate one, certainly in no way unreasonable. I don't make predictions, i'm a kind of a stick in the mud person who believe's in the old cliché 'your only as good as your last game'. Our choices and strategy can only truly be judged once again at the end of the season. Here's hoping for further consolidation.
