I COULD have gone to the game But decided that, as my daughter was ill, I wouldn't go. The opposition was, to me, irrelevant as I go to watch my team. I wouldn't have gone had we been playing Burnley, Manchester United, either of the Sheffield clubs or Darlington. I'm probably not a real fan.
At least Scott is a season ticket holder Which is more than can be said for a lot who come on here - and being brutally honest anyone who missed the Burnley game it was their loss
RE: Did you go to Derby Doddy? Fair enough but i still paid to go see my team in a more important League game than a Cup game. Is that a good enough reason for me to to the Manure game? Or are you going to hunt me down and block my entrance?
But when it comes to money... £10+ for travel to Derby, plus ticket price. Home match- no travel expense (unless you get the bus or something), £15 entry. Bargain compared to Derby. By the way I'm assuming Barnsley fans live in Barnsley. I know a lot don't. And where do you reckon most of the away end will live when we play Man Utd? I bet there's more of a tarn accent in the away end than in the home!
So.... Why haven't you gone to today's "more important league game", rather than probably going to the Man Utd game?
I've been watching the Reds for around 10 years now... Went to games with my Father, Uncle and Grandfather. They go to the odd game now and again now (families to support) but i go week in, week out - a la season ticket. Alot of folk i know only started coming to watch us when we get promoted with Ritchie. But because i didn't go to Burnley i'm a **** fan. (N)
Why haven't you? I suspect for the same reason as me, I refuse to be robbed blind by those cockneys. I'm daft, but not that daft.
Lets just get behind em! It will be a great occasion and oakwell will welcome any fan who wants to get behind tarn!
Do people need a specific reason to miss a game? Are we all legally obliged to go to every game? It would seem so with the way some people go on about 'absent' fans. Live and let live I say.
It's not me moaning about folk not going to away games... I'm much in the same camp as Doddy. I'd rather give my own club my money. I'd have rather gone to the Burnley game than any away game. Probably with the exceptions of Wednesday, Utd, Donny & Scunny.
RE: I COULD have gone to the game Im sure Kev was like me and can remember alot worse dross than what you see now, 80's etc. Why on earth people have to justify why they miss games is beyond me. I was a season ticket holder for 30 years, never missed home or away, but my life changed along with alot of others, plus the smoking ban stopped me from going, personal choice. Wont be there V Man U.
Ah, those were the days(!) Watching us lose to the likes of Barrow, Workington, Southport, Newport County, Halifax Town, etc. I blame my late Dad for getting me a season ticket during that Fourth Division halcyon(!) period of the 1970's!! It helped mould me into the dopey, old bugger I am now!!!
